Actress Kim Min Ha, known for Pachinko, discusses her role as Hye-seon in the upcoming film 'Hana Korea' in her latest Elle Korea pictorial.
Actress Kim Min Ha, famous for the drama 'Pachinko', has graced the pages of Elle Korea.

On the 22nd, through the July issue of the fashion magazine Elle, Kim Min Ha shared her insights regarding the film 'Hana Korea'. Set to be released on July 8, 'Hana Korea' depicts the process of Hye-seon, a woman who leaves North Korea and arrives in South Korea, as she adapts to her new life.

Kim Min Ha revealed her reason for accepting the role, stating, “Rather than the subject of being a North Korean defector, I saw the person named Hye-seon first. I was curious about what kind of mindset brought her here and what she enjoyed while living. Ultimately, Hye-seon is also a person who wants to be happy. I thought the desire to be loved, to make friends, and to live doing what one wants to do is something everyone shares.”

She continued to describe her efforts, saying, “Rather than trying to represent someone, I tried to understand her as an individual. While preparing the Yanggangdo dialect, it was more important to sound realistic than to have perfect pronunciation. I even contemplated how Hye-seon's way of speaking would change as time passes.”
Choosing 'happiness' as the keyword to describe Hye-seon, she said, “Hye-seon risked her life to get here, but she is still a person who strives to live. Her strength lies in her attitude of not giving up on the things she loves.”
