AKMU's Lee Su-hyun has revealed the decisive reason behind her losing approximately 30kg. She confessed that it wasn't merely about managing her appearance, but rather that health warning signs accompanying her weight gain became the catalyst for changing her lifestyle.

AKMU's Lee Su-hyeon Reveals Shocking Reason for 30kg Weight Loss: 'Pre-diabetes Diagnosis'

On the 19th, a video titled 'AKMU's Lee Su-hyun Invited to Play Alone' was released on the YouTube channel 'Chimchak Man.' During the session, when the topic of starting a diet for health arose, Lee opened up about a health checkup experience she had not previously disclosed.

Lee revealed that at the time her weight had increased significantly, she actually avoided going to the hospital. "I kept turning a blind eye to my condition," she said. "I had gained so much weight that I thought, 'There must definitely be something wrong. There's no way I'm healthy,' so I actually avoided the hospital."

Despite the advice of her family and those around her, she could not easily undergo an examination. She admitted she was afraid to check her own health status, to the point where she wouldn't even weigh herself properly, treating health checkup results like a "Pandora's box" she wanted to avoid.

However, she eventually decided she could no longer avoid it and visited a hospital. The blood test results were a more serious warning than expected. Recalling the shock of that moment, Lee said, "I had a blood test and they told me I was in the pre-diabetic stage. I thought, 'I'm so young, but a real red light has been flashed on my health.'"

Pre-diabetes is a state where blood sugar levels have risen beyond the normal range, making it a critical period for lifestyle management as the risk of progressing to diabetes increases. For Lee, this result became the turning point that made her realize the necessity of health management rather than just simple weight loss.

Following this, Lee actively engaged in exercise and dietary management. "From then on, I worked hard, lost a lot of weight, exercised diligently, and became healthy," she said. While it is known that she lost as much as 30kg over approximately one year, there was a clear improvement not only in her weight but also in her health checkup numbers.

Lee shared that her health has significantly improved, stating, "When I had my checkup again this year, everything came back completely normal."

Previously, in April, Lee also mentioned the period when her weight increased rapidly on tvN's 'You Quiz on the Block.' She confessed that during a slump lasting about two years, she spent more time staying in her room and repeatedly engaged in binge eating.

Later, at the suggestion of her brother Lee Chan-hyuk, she began living with him and started exercising and managing her diet, eventually losing weight through consistent lifestyle improvements.

Ultimately, Lee's 30kg weight loss is less a story of diet success in simply reducing numbers and more a process of facing reality after a period of ignoring her health and changing her lifestyle itself. Her confession carries even more meaning in that the pre-diabetic warning she received at a young age served as the turning point to reclaim her health.
