The current situation surrounding Danielle stems from the exclusive contract conflict between NewJeans and ADOR. The members of NewJeans declared the termination of their exclusive contracts in November 2024 following conflicts with ADOR, after which the legal battle surrounding their independent activities intensified. The conflict entered a new phase as the court ruled in favor of ADOR in a lawsuit to confirm the validity of the exclusive contracts.

The members' paths have since diverged. Haerin and Hyein decided to return to ADOR, and it is reported that Hanni also expressed her intention to return. Interest in the possibility of the group's future activities also focused on Minji, who recently appeared in a video commemorating the NewJeans debut.

On the other hand, Danielle is continuing a separate legal dispute without having restored her relationship with ADOR.

Last December, ADOR notified Danielle that it would be difficult for her to continue as a member of NewJeans and a signed artist, subsequently terminating her exclusive contract. ADOR then filed a damages lawsuit worth approximately 33 billion won against Danielle, one of her family members, and former ADOR CEO Min Hee-jin. This amount represents the scale of damages claimed by ADOR in relation to the series of conflicts surrounding the exclusive contracts and NewJeans' activities; however, the final responsibility and scope of compensation have not been finalized.

This dispute is viewed as a symbolic event that goes beyond the contract termination of a single artist, questioning how long the exclusive contract relationship between an artist and an agency can persist in the K-pop industry. The NewJeans situation has expanded the debate surrounding contract practices in the Korean entertainment industry, as it involves a complex entanglement of contract continuity, independent artist activities, the relationship between labels and producers, management disputes, brand value, and damages.

Danielle was considered a key member in expanding NewJeans' global recognition.
