Jo Jung-suk and Gummy Reveal Why They Decided to Have a Second Child After 6 Years
Actor Jo Jung-suk and singer Gummy share the heartwarming story behind their decision to welcome a second daughter into their family.
Actor Jo Jung-suk and singer Gummy revealed the reason why they welcomed their second child after 6 years.

On the 29th, Gummy, Jo Jung-suk's wife, appeared as the first guest on the segment 'Between Rock and Music' on the YouTube channel 'Channel Jo Jung-suk.'
Jo Jung-suk and Gummy, who recently welcomed their second daughter, shared the circumstances that led to having a second child. Jo Jung-suk recalled, "At first, my wife's love for our first child was so great that I couldn't even imagine a second. Then, one day after 6 years, while filming the movie 'Zombie Daughter,' I received a call from Gummy. She suddenly asked, 'Oppa, shall we have a second child?' In that moment, my eyes snapped open, my nose flared, and my ears perked up."
He continued with a playful remark, "I was so startled that I wanted to head up to Seoul immediately. After that, everything proceeded smoothly."
Gummy cited the influence of those around her as the reason for deciding on a second child. "Seniors who had children advised, 'It's great, so have them quickly.' Those without children advised, 'Make sure to have them while you can. You'll regret it.' Looking at close family members, many had siblings. I was also influenced by watching Jung Sang-hoon's family, who are raising triplets."
As the decisive reason, Gummy stated, "I thought Yewon might feel lonely without a sibling when she grows up. Since our profession is unique, there might be limits to how much a child can pour out their emotions only to their parents. The idea that siblings can rely on each other and live together really resonated with me."
Jo Jung-suk supported Gummy's sentiment, saying, "Parents may not be by their side someday, but siblings are beings who can stay together for a lifetime. I thought they could become friends and family members who can speak their hearts openly. Since the time they have to live is much longer, I think having a sibling to rely on will be a great strength."
Gummy mentioned, "Since Yewon is a picky eater, I told her that if she doesn't eat vegetables, she won't grow tall, and she replied, 'But Daddy is short.'" Jo Jung-suk jokingly said, "I felt a bit stung at that moment," appearing discouraged, while Gummy added, "Yewon is just joking. She's at an age where teasing her dad is fun."
Jo Jung-suk and Gummy married in 2018 and have two daughters.
