Ki Hui-hyeon on marriage: 'If you haven't met the right person, why hurry?'

Ki Hui-hyeon, a former member of the girl group DIA, is drawing attention by sharing glimpses of her daily life with her partner Lee Sang Yoon and candidly expressing her thoughts on marriage.

Only about three months after making their relationship public, she directly addressed questions regarding her views on marriage. She revealed an attitude that marriage should be viewed as a choice based on individual relationships and happiness, rather than a task to be completed according to a specific age or timeline.

On the 10th, Ki posted several photos on her social media (SNS) with the caption, “We talk too much.”

The photos captured Ki and Lee spending time together. The couple shared relatively natural dating scenes, such as sitting across from each other in a cafe to talk and enjoying exercise against a seaside backdrop. Unlike celebrity relationships that are often presented through highly polished images like official photo shoots, the two revealed the current state of their romance through everyday moments.

In particular, Ki's recently shared perspective on marriage caught the eye.

When a netizen asked about marriage, Ki expressed her thoughts, saying, “Essentially, marriage is about meeting a good person and trying to be happy with each other.” She followed up by questioning, “If you meet someone good enough to want to marry them, it is something to be celebrated, but if you haven't met such a person yet, what reason is there to be in a hurry?”

Rather than viewing marriage itself negatively, her perspective places the prerequisite for marriage on a "good relationship." While the concept of a socially appropriate marriageable age still exists, her view aligns with the growing recognition that it is difficult to judge marriage timing by uniform standards in a reality where individual life cycles and values have become increasingly diverse.

Ki added, “Don't be impatient. You must be wary of your vision becoming blurred,” and “If you become a good person, you will meet a good person, and if your hearts are aligned, marriage will not be difficult.”

This is interpreted as an intention to prioritize her relationship with her partner over external scrutiny. Most notably, despite receiving questions about marriage immediately after going public, she focused on the essence and reciprocity of the relationship rather than mentioning specific plans or timelines.

Ki and Lee revealed their relationship through "lovestagram" style posts on SNS last June. By naturally sharing their daily lives, they informed the public of their romance, and about three months later, their views on marriage became a subject of interest.

For Ki, the relationship with Lee is also a significant turning point.

Ki debuted as a member of the girl group DIA in 2015. Serving as the leader and main rapper, she established her presence within the typical idol group structure of the time. The following year, in 2016, she gained renewed public attention by appearing on the Mnet audition program "Produce 101."

"Produce 101" was a program that popularized a new type of idol audition format where trainees' skills, recognition, and fandom choices are combined. While Ki demonstrated her rap and performance capabilities on the program, she finished in 19th place, missing out on joining the project group I.O.I. Afterward, she continued her activities with DIA, expanding her reach through music shows and variety programs.

DIA was active with songs such as "Somehow," "On the Road," "Will You Go Out with Me," and "Good Night," with Ki playing a key role in maintaining the group's identity as the leader. After DIA's official activities ended, it was reported that she transitioned into a role at an entertainment agency, continuing her career within the industry in a new capacity.

Lee works as a model. He gained public recognition after appearing on the Channel A dating variety program "Heart Pairing" last year. After showcasing his personality on a program themed around dating and relationships, he once again became a center of attention by revealing his actual relationship status.

The interest in their relationship stems from the fact that both have built public profiles through different paths. Ki rose to prominence through an idol group and an audition program, while Lee built his recognition through modeling and dating variety shows. The shared photos of their dates illustrate how these two different career paths have met in a private relationship.

However, Ki's comments should not be interpreted as specific marriage plans. She has shared her fundamental principles regarding marriage and her life with her partner, rather than disclosing a concrete timeline or plan.
