Shinhwa member and actor Kim Dong Wan has clarified the intent behind his recent remarks after facing backlash for defending YouTuber Park Wi regarding the controversial release of CCTV footage showing Park Wi's KTX wheelchair accident. While emphasizing that he has no personal friendship or vested interest in Park Wi, Kim stated that criticism toward the social service agent involved must be distinguished from collective online condemnation.

On the 23rd, Kim posted on his Threads account, stating that his previous comments were being misinterpreted. "I have no personal friendship or vested interest with Park Wi," he stated. He added, "I do not take lightly the situation where a social service agent, who made an unintentional mistake and even apologized on-site, is being exposed to criticism," noting that he is aware of the controversy surrounding the worker.

Kim acknowledged that the method Park Wi used to release the CCTV footage could be subject to criticism. However, he expressed concern over the trend of spreading criticism by dragging in unverified past actions to condemn an entire individual.

"Criticizing a mistake is different from collectively insulting a person," Kim emphasized, adding, "My intention was that no one should become the target of such collective insults." Regarding the criticism that his remarks were problematic, he added, "It was my error, and since there are comments pointing this out, I will leave the original post as it is."

Previously, after the controversy surrounding Park Wi intensified, Kim posted a message suggesting Park Wi's position should be understood, writing, "This is also his first time dealing with a disability. He would have had no choice but to think from the perspective of a person with a disability."
