Lee Hae-in shifts focus from provocative piano videos to supporting small businesses
Creator Lee Hae-in is pivoting from her viral 1.4 million-subscriber piano channel to a new paid content model supporting small business owners.
Former actress turned creator Lee Hae-in is reorganizing her signature content, which amassed over 1.4 million subscribers, to embark on a new challenge. Having captured public attention with videos of her playing the piano in provocative outfits such as bikinis and lingerie, she has now declared that she will create paid content that introduces the products and stories of small business owners. The process of redesigning her content direction after gaining fame is drawing significant attention.

On the 20th, Lee announced through her YouTube channel and SNS that she is reorganizing her piano channel, which holds over 1.4 million subscribers. She clarified that she is not closing the channel itself, but is effectively terminating her existing sexy-concept content to transition to a new style of content. In fact, most of her previous revealing piano videos have already been set to private.
Lee's choice is not merely a severance intended to erase her past. Expressing gratitude to the subscribers who enjoyed her previous videos, she explained that her joys and sorrows are embedded in the channel she has operated for a long time. As such, this decision is closer to breaking away from the representative character that imprinted her on the public rather than a simple deletion of content.
What she particularly emphasized was 'sustainability.' Lee revealed that she had been contemplating how long she could maintain the concept of playing the piano in sexy outfits. She judged that even for a channel that has grown using the same method for several years, there are limits to relying on a single concept.
Lee's YouTube history differs somewhat from the typical career path of a celebrity. After debuting as an advertising model in 2005, she appeared in dramas such as "Golden Fish," "Five Fingers," "H.I.T," and "Vampire Idol," and made a name for herself with the image of "Doe Girl" through the tvN variety show "Fun TV Roller Coaster." Later, in 2012, she challenged herself as a singer in the girl group Gangkiz.
However, during a time when it was difficult to maintain her position through traditional entertainment activities as an actress and singer alone, YouTube became a new breakthrough. Rather than repeating the image she built in traditional broadcasting, Lee presented unique content combining provocative exposure with piano performances, which resulted in securing a substantial number of subscribers. As of 2025, reports confirm that her channel subscribers have reached approximately 1.41 million.
However, the number of subscribers did not immediately translate into profit. Lee previously mentioned issues with YouTube sanctions and monetization, revealing that despite having over 1 million subscribers, she essentially generated no revenue through her piano content. Coupled with copyright issues, she experienced a reality different from the general perception that "large channel = massive advertising revenue."
This point serves as an important background for understanding this transition to paid content. This is because securing high views and subscribers on a platform is a separate issue from a creator obtaining a stable income. Instead of using her large-scale online influence simply to draw views, Lee appears to be choosing a new revenue model that connects information and products worth paying for.
The target of the content she announced she would create is not giant corporations or famous brands. Her plan is to find small business owners who struggle to sell despite having good products due to a lack of promotion, and unknown individuals, to turn their stories into content. Since Lee herself has experience of rising again through her own strength, she explained that she wants to reach out to them and grow together.
In particular, she also disclosed that production costs will be incurred from the start this time. While stating that she is waiting for contact from small business owners, she notified that video production requires a certain amount of cost. This is interpreted as a move to clearly establish content production itself as a business model, rather than merely claiming to offer simple sponsorships or free promotion.
Lee's economic foundation has also changed. She drew attention by revealing that she purchased a building worth 4 billion won last year. At the time, some speculated that the money earned from her revealing piano content might have been the basis for the building purchase, but Lee clarified that she did not earn much money from the piano YouTube channel and that linking the building purchase directly to the revenue from that content is contrary to the facts.
Recently, even after becoming a building owner, she personally confessed that reality is different from what she expected. She thought that if she filled the vacancies, she could live without working, but in reality, managing the property and dealing with various costs has proven to be more complex than anticipated. She has experienced the gap between securing assets and creating a stable cash flow.
These experiences seem related to this content reorganization. Rather than settling for her existing assets or fame, she is attempting to convert her channel and production capabilities into a different form of economic value. While pivoting away from a 1.4 million-subscriber formula is a significant risk in the online content market, Lee is focusing on the stories she wants to tell rather than repeating the formula her subscribers are familiar with.
Of course, it remains to be seen how much success the new content will achieve. It is uncertain whether subscribers of her existing channel will continue to consume content promoting small businesses, and how much the interests of a fanbase built on music and visuals will overlap with this new direction.
Nevertheless, this decision is noteworthy because she is personally letting go of the very image that once defined her. For Lee, who has expanded her career from actress to entertainer, singer, and YouTuber, this shift could represent another significant professional turning point.
Ultimately, what Lee is moving away from is not piano playing itself, but the "sexy concept" that defined her content. Attention is now focused on whether her choice to use her influence to promote the products and stories of others can lead to actual business success and new public trust.
