NewJeans Hyein shares honest feelings on turning 19

NewJeans' Hyein has shared a glimpse into her recent life through a new photoshoot and video, revealing a more mature side of herself. Even during her hiatus from group activities, she has been spending her final teenage years in her own unique way, sharing her honest feelings as she approaches age 20.

On the 22nd, Hyein's September issue cover, photoshoot, and behind-the-scenes footage were released via the official social media account of fashion magazine Harper's Bazaar Korea.

In the released video, Hyein creates a dreamy atmosphere in a red dress and showcases a different image by pairing voluminous fur outfits with hats. While her long straight hair and distinct facial features remain unchanged, a more mature aura was evident as she gazed into the camera and struck natural poses.

The photoshoot garnered significant attention as it provided a vivid look at Hyein's current appearance by releasing both the final images and the filming process itself.

Through the interview, Hyein shared her thoughts on turning 19 and her recent daily life. "I was a little shocked by the fact that I am already 19, but this year's birthday was very special," she stated, adding, "I did something I really wanted to do: 'going to an amusement park wearing a school uniform.'"

She explained, "My school days were so short that I never had the chance to go to an amusement park with my friends. I went to celebrate the last birthday of my teens."\

For Hyein, who began her career in the entertainment industry at a young age, the experience of visiting an amusement park in a school uniform with friends carries a meaning beyond simple leisure. It serves as a way to record the final moments of her teens by finally experiencing the everyday school life that her peers naturally enjoyed.

She also revealed her plans for turning 20. Expressing anticipation for her new age, Hyein said, "On the day I turn 20, the first thing I will do is blow out the candles and eat cake. It's to celebrate my twentieth year."\

Hyein debuted as a member of NewJeans at a young age and has been recognized as a next-generation leader of K-pop. As she has been active as one of the younger members while building global recognition through group activities, the glimpse into '19-year-old Hyein's' daily life draws interest as a look into her growth process outside of the stage.

This photoshoot is also significant as it marks Hyein's individual activity following her return to ADOR last November amid conflicts regarding NewJeans' exclusive contract. Following the recent reveal of Haerin's individual activities, Hyein's appearance through this fashion shoot is increasing anticipation for her future solo endeavors.
