Rain, Husband of Kim Tae-hee, Lost His Mother — Then His Home Caught Fire
Singer-actor Rain opens up on tvN's 'You Quiz on the Block' about surviving hardship as a trainee after losing his mother and his home to fire.
On the 17th, the production team of tvN's You Quiz on the Block released a preview featuring singer-actor Rain.

Rain has a success story of tenaciously enduring his trainee days to rise as a world star. He recalled, "I never went home during my trainee days. I thought that to succeed among people who had more than me, I had to work harder than them. I was desperate and driven. Because if I didn't succeed, my family would suffer."
He continued, "After my mother passed away, a fire broke out at home and I had nowhere to go. My father was living his own life, and my younger sister went to stay with our aunt. I spread a sleeping bag on the practice room floor and ate and slept there. It was do or die. I felt I had to see this career through to the end," explaining why he had struggled so hard to succeed as a singer.
Rain debuted in 1998 with the boy group Fanclub, then re-debuted as a solo artist in 2002 with "Bad Guy." He went on to score hits including "How to Avoid the Sun," "It's Raining," "Rainism," "I Do," "The Song That Will Hold You," "La Song," and "Gang." He also found success as an actor through films and dramas such as Full House, I'm a Cyborg, But That's OK, and Ninja Assassin.
In 2017, he married actress Kim Tae-hee, and the couple has two daughters.
