Son Dam-bi Explains Lodging Bubble-Play Controversy: "I Wiped Everything With Towels"
Singer and actor Son Dam-bi addressed criticism over bubble play with her daughter in a lodging living room, but online opinion remains divided.
Singer and actor Son Dam-bi has personally addressed the controversy that arose after she enjoyed bubble play with her daughter in the living room of a lodging facility. While she moved to calm the criticism by saying she cleaned up afterward, online reaction has remained split, and the debate over the public boundaries of everyday social media content appears to be continuing.

On July 6, Son Dam-bi wrote briefly on her social media, "Many people are worried about the bubble play, but I wiped the floor completely with towels." Her response effectively emphasized that she had taken follow-up action after concerns were raised about hygiene and safety in the way the lodging space was used.
The issue began with a video Son Dam-bi posted after traveling to Sokcho with her family on July 5. The clip showed her playing with her daughter using an automatic bubble toy in what appeared to be the living room of a lodging space. At first, many viewers responded warmly, seeing the post as a cheerful record of an ordinary family moment.
Afterward, however, some online users suggested that the space might not have been a private home, but a shared area in a lodging facility used by multiple guests. As that possibility spread, the discussion widened into a question of manners in public facilities, with critics noting that bubble solution left on the floor could create a slipping hazard and might also leave sticky residue behind.
Critical comments argued that the behavior failed to consider other guests and cleaning staff, and some said she should have been more careful in a shared space. At the same time, others pushed back, saying a brief play scene with a child was being treated too harshly, and that it was excessive to draw firm conclusions from only part of a video. As a result, public opinion became clearly divided.
Son Dam-bi's response is being interpreted as a form of after-the-fact management amid the spread of the controversy. Even so, the public discussion that had already formed does not appear likely to settle easily through a simple explanation alone. The reaction also seems to reflect a broader trend in which everyday content shared on social media is increasingly consumed in a public context, bringing stricter scrutiny to the line between private space and public ethics.
Since marrying former national speed skating representative Lee Kyu-hyuk in 2022, Son Dam-bi has continued to share social media posts centered on parenting and daily life. This controversy is also being read as a case that shows the complex social gaze directed at parenting vlog-style content.
