On the May 23 episode of MBN's "Unburdening Show Dongchimi," comedian Jo Hye-ryeon showed her affection for her son Woo-joo.

She talked with Lee Kyung-sil and Kim Ji-sun on the theme "Mom Is Not Dead Yet."

In the segment "Mom Went This Far," Jo Hye-ryeon's story took first place. She introduced the title "My son's wandering ended after 18 years" and began by saying, "First of all, this is Woo-joo's story."

She continued, "He had the nickname 'Quit It, Woo-joo.' Whenever he started something, he could never keep it up for long and would quit." She said that during his school years, after returning from language training in Canada, he said he wanted to become a goalkeeper, but gave up after seeing a friend who was better than him. He also quit playing the drums, saying his arms hurt.

Jo revealed that her son had been a victim of school violence in middle school, saying, "One day, Woo-joo came home crying and confessed that he had been teased and then assaulted because he was the son of a celebrity."

She added, "My son wanted to fight back, but he held it in because of the responsibility of being 'Jo Hye-ryeon's son.' At the time, he cried in front of me, saying it was too hard, and that is why he dropped out of school. Even when I saw my 18-year-old son whose final academic background was elementary school graduation, I could not say anything to him," sharing the hardship she faced.

Afterward, Woo-joo realized that gaming suited his aptitude. At 19, he passed the middle school and high school qualification exams and then entered university.

Jo Hye-ryeon, born in 1970, married a music engineer in 1998 and had one son and one daughter, but divorced in 2012. About two years later, she remarried a businessman two years her junior.
