Musical Actress Kim Hwan-hee Marries Choi Min-woo After Caring for Her Ill Father

Musical actress Kim Hwan-hee married Choi Min-woo after years in which she had also taken on the care of her ailing father, a painful family story she shared on television.

On the June 8 episode of TV CHOSUN's variety program "Joseon's Lovers," Kim Hwan-hee opened up about the heartbreaking circumstances in her family background. The broadcast also revealed scenes from the wedding ceremony of Kim Hwan-hee and Choi Min-woo, showing the couple on the day they formally began their married life.

Kim Hwan-hee and Choi Min-woo arrived in the waiting room early in the morning to prepare for the wedding. Their ceremony was scheduled for 5 p.m. on a Monday, an unusual time that prompted the production team to ask whether they had been worried that guests might not come.

Choi Min-woo replied that, in truth, they had not been completely free of that concern. Even so, he said what mattered to them was that colleagues from their industry could attend. He then explained that musical actors usually rest on Mondays, making the weekday ceremony meaningful for the people closest to their work.

The groom, who is younger than the bride, said he had kept his three-year relationship with Kim Hwan-hee tightly hidden. He recalled that in front of other people, he would deliberately call her "noona," a Korean term used by a man for an older woman, and would act as if he were merely greeting her in passing. That was how carefully they concealed their romance.

Kim Hwan-hee also shared that she had recently held a bridal shower. Before the wedding, she received warm congratulations from acquaintances, marking the transition from the relationship they had kept quiet to a marriage being celebrated openly.

Once the couple finally appeared in their tuxedo and wedding dress, they looked at each other and exchanged the compliment, "You look beautiful." Choi Min-woo, full of performance energy, even danced a tap routine in front of his wife as she stood in her dress.

The wedding ceremony was held outdoors. A large group of prominent musical actors came as guests to celebrate the newlyweds. Hong Ji-min, Kim Dong-hyun, Son Yoo-dong, Bae Na-ra and others gathered to offer warm congratulations for the couple's future together.

Before the ceremony, Kim Hwan-hee told the production team that her father had died in 2022. Her older sisters expressed their gratitude to her, explaining that Hwan-hee had cared for their father during the five years he was ill.

Her sisters said Hwan-hee had been the youngest daughter who nevertheless acted like the eldest. They said she had taken on the role of supporting the family, and they added that they were deeply thankful to her.

Kim Hwan-hee then spoke about the emotional certainty she found through Choi Min-woo. She said that before meeting Min-woo, she had often felt afraid when thinking about having children and had not felt sure about marriage.

After she met him, however, that fear about marriage disappeared. Kim Hwan-hee said she came to feel that if she was with this person, there would be nothing to be afraid of. She added that there was nothing to calculate or weigh, and that when he asked her to marry him, she had no list of worries at all.

Kim Hwan-hee was born in 1991, while Choi Min-woo was born in 1992.
