Kim Gu-ra Firmly Opposes His Late-Born Daughter Becoming a Celebrity; Gree Says, “Let Me Benefit From My Sister a Little”

Kim Gu-ra is firmly against his late-born daughter becoming a celebrity, while Gree has joked that he would like to “benefit from his younger sister a little.”

Singer Gree, also known by his birth name Kim Dong-hyun and as the son of Korean comedian and broadcaster Kim Gu-ra, shared details about his much younger sister’s saju, a Korean fortune-reading chart, through his YouTube channel “Kim Gree” on June 12.

In the video, Gree met fortune-reading expert Pai and looked into both his own saju and that of his late-born younger sibling. Explaining why he had brought up his sister’s chart, he said, “I have a younger sibling. She is about six now, and I heard there is a fortune-telling place that only reads for children. My father, Kim Gu-ra, said he would absolutely never let her become a celebrity.”

Gree then spoke about the possibility more candidly. “There are advantages that come with it, but the disadvantages are also clear, aren’t they? They say my sister also has a complete celebrity-type fortune. Even if she does become active, I am thinking of letting her do it when she is a bit older,” he said, revealing his inner wish to benefit from his sister’s future success.

Pai offered advice about the young sister, who was said to have been born prematurely. “The fact that she came early means there is a high possibility that she has a fortune connected to wealth. Even if she does not necessarily become a celebrity, I think she will do something that allows her to follow her own individuality. It would be good, though, if she simply keeps at something steadily,” Pai said.

Kim Gu-ra remarried in 2020 to a wife 12 years younger than him, and in 2021 the couple welcomed his late-born daughter.

In the past, Gree also revealed footage of himself visiting a bank with Kim Gu-ra. At the time, Kim Gu-ra encouraged Gree to organize his accounts so that he could manage his own money and become financially independent. However, the balances in the accounts were shocking.

Gree told the production team that he had expected there might be a certain amount saved up because he had worked a lot since childhood. In reality, the account for his music copyright royalties had a balance of only 4,000 won, while the account for his broadcast appearance fees contained just 84,000 won.

Kim Gu-ra explained what had happened to the money. “When the household was divided, Dong-hyun’s bank accounts were managed by his mother for a while. His mother used some of that money, and I got angry about it. Dong-hyun’s mother was sorry about it too,” he said, revealing that Gree’s mother had spent Gree’s income.
