Na Yeong-seok Apologizes for Taiwan Labeling Error

PD Na Yeong-seok's YouTube channel, 'Channel Full Moon,' is facing ongoing criticism from Taiwanese viewers after labeling Taiwan as 'overseas.' The backlash continues as the apology was only posted on Threads, leaving many feeling unsatisfied.

In the second episode of 'Business Trip: God of Communication: SEVENTEEN Unity Competition,' released on the 29th of last month, a scene where Na Yeong-seok PD asks, "Did you see Kim Min Gyu on Taiwan news?" featured the Chinese subtitles 'overseas news' instead of 'Taiwan news.' Consequently, Taiwanese viewers criticized the content, stating, "Taiwan is Taiwan. It feels like the existence of Taiwan has been erased."

In response, Channel Full Moon admitted the mistake via SNS on the 3rd, stating: "Upon realizing that 'Taiwan' was labeled as 'overseas' in the Chinese subtitles, we corrected the subtitles immediately. It was a mistake that occurred during the translation process, but the responsibility for failing to correct it during the final review stage lies entirely with us. We sincerely apologize to the viewers who felt discomfort and hurt due to the Taiwan-related labeling during this subtitle translation process. We will strengthen our translation and subtitle review procedures to ensure similar issues do not recur."

However, criticism persists because the apology was only posted on Threads, making it impossible to verify the apology on the YouTube channel where the controversy originated or on Instagram.
