Kim Dae-ho hospitalized in Ethiopia after sudden health crisis

Broadcaster Kim Dae-ho, a former MBC announcer, was rushed to a hospital after experiencing a sudden and severe health crisis during overseas filming. Known for his physical resilience and ability to adapt to extreme environments, Kim's condition deteriorated so significantly that filming had to be halted, leaving both the cast and production crew in a state of high tension.

In the upcoming episode of the MBC Every1 variety show 'The Great Guide 3' airing on the 21st, the journey of Kim Dae-ho, Park Myung-soo, Choi Daniel, and Lee Mu-jin through the Danakil region in northern Ethiopia will be revealed.

Danakil is a region characterized by extreme heat, arid climates, and volcanic terrain, making it one of the world's most punishing travel destinations. The area is notorious for causing extreme physical exhaustion due to intense solar radiation and harsh travel conditions.

During the episode, Kim reported a sudden decline in his health while on the move.

While attempting to rest, he suffered from intense headaches and nausea, eventually leading to vomiting, which made it impossible to continue filming.

The atmosphere on set turned somber as Kim, who typically shows no signs of struggle regardless of the environment, appeared visibly unwell.

Prioritizing the performer's safety, the production team made the decision to immediately suspend filming and transfer Kim to a local hospital.

Fellow cast members were unable to hide their concern for his well-being.

Park Myung-soo expressed deep worry, noting, "If Dae-ho says he is sick, he is really sick," while Choi Daniel and Lee Mu-jin remained by his side to monitor his condition.

The studio cast members also watched the footage with heavy hearts, surprised by the sudden health emergency of a man known for his rugged image.

Medically, filming in high-temperature, arid environments or high altitudes involving long periods of travel can lead to a combination of dehydration, heat exhaustion, acute gastrointestinal symptoms, and general physical decline. Because headaches, nausea, and vomiting are non-specific symptoms that can stem from various causes, an exact diagnosis can only be confirmed through professional medical examination.

Kim served as an MBC announcer for 14 years, working across news, educational, and variety programming before transitioning to freelance work.

Since leaving the station, he has joined One Hundred Label, led by Chairwoman Cha Ga Won, to expand his broadcasting career. He continues to be a prominent figure in travel variety shows thanks to his easygoing charm and exceptional adaptability.
