O Jeong-yeon amazed by stranger's honesty at East Sea

Broadcaster O Jeong-yeon, a former announcer, expressed her admiration for the integrity shown by an anonymous citizen after recovering her lost sunglasses in just 20 minutes at the East Sea.

On the 4th, O posted several photos on her SNS from a trip to a beach in the East Sea. The photos capture her enjoying a relaxing moment with her arms wide open against the backdrop of the vast ocean. Her sunglasses, worn to shield her from the sunlight, were also naturally captured in the shots.

However, an unexpected mishap occurred during the pleasant trip. O shared the situation, writing, “I dropped my sunglasses, ran for a while, and when I went back 20 minutes later, someone had left them on top of a rock.” A photo released alongside her post shows the sunglasses placed neatly on a rock.

On a beach with wide vistas like the East Sea, it is difficult to find small items once they are dropped. Considering that O had traveled a considerable distance before returning just 20 minutes later, the probability of the sunglasses remaining in place was low. It was only because someone discovered them and moved them to a spot where the owner could easily recognize them that she was able to retrieve them safely.

O expressed her gratitude for this anonymous act of kindness, describing it as the "class of conscience in the Republic of Korea." Even though it was not her own item, the act of not turning a blind eye upon discovery and placing it in a visible spot so the owner could find it added an unexpected touch of emotion to her short trip.

This story is meaningful in that it drew more attention for the small sense of civic duty encountered in an ordinary space rather than the celebrity's daily life. Rather than the value of the sunglasses themselves, the judgment and consideration shown by the person who found them left a more impressive memory for O.

O worked as a KBS 32nd class announcer before leaving KBS in 2015 to become a freelance broadcaster. Since then, she has expanded her career into hosting, variety shows, and acting, proving her presence in various fields without being confined to the mold of a former announcer.

The small incident that occurred at a travel destination away from the glamorous broadcasting scene showed a more relatable side of O's daily life. Above all, the sunglasses she recovered in 20 minutes also carried the conscience of the nameless citizen who returned them.
