Park Soo Hong apologizes for flight delay, citing ignorance of procedures
Broadcaster Park Soo Hong issued an apology after his decision to disembark and then re-board caused a flight delay due to security and baggage protocols.
Broadcaster Park Soo Hong has issued a personal apology regarding the controversy surrounding a flight delay involving his family. He admitted to making an immature judgment when he initially requested to disembark because his child was crying severely on board, only to later reverse the decision, which triggered complex checked baggage and security re-processing.

On the 26th, Park posted an apology on his SNS, expressing regret for the inconvenience caused to other passengers during his recent flight.
The incident occurred on the 23rd during a flight from Incheon International Airport to Guam. After boarding with his family, Park decided to inform cabin crew of his intention to disembark when his child began crying so intensely that staying seated became difficult, fearing the disruption would affect other passengers during the long flight.
Because the family had already boarded, the airline began the process of removing their checked baggage from the aircraft. However, once the child stopped crying, Park requested to withdraw his request and re-board.
Reversing the process proved difficult; because the disembarkation procedures had already been initiated, the airline had to re-load checked baggage and re-execute security protocols, which reportedly caused a significant delay in the flight's departure.
In his apology, Park explained that he was flustered by the situation and made a lapse in judgment. He noted that he was not fully aware that reversing a disembarkation request involves more than just returning to a seat, as it necessitates repeating baggage and security procedures that lead to departure delays.
Park stated that he views the incident as a result of his own ignorance regarding aviation regulations and offered no excuses. He acknowledged that while his actions were intended to care for his family, they ultimately burdened the schedules of other passengers and the airline's ground operations.
Aviation security protocols are complex; once checked baggage is loaded, a passenger's disembarkation requires that specific luggage to be identified and removed for security reasons. This is why altering a boarding status can take significantly longer than expected.
In addition to apologizing to the passengers whose time was lost, Park also expressed his regrets to the airline staff who worked to manage the situation. He concluded his message by offering a deep apology to everyone inconvenienced by his shortcomings.
The apology focused less on explaining the delay itself and more on admitting his lack of understanding of aviation procedures. As Park issued a direct apology relatively quickly, attention is now on how the situation will be resolved.
