Song Eun-i undergoes surgery for trigger finger

Broadcaster Song Eun-i has revealed that she underwent surgery for trigger finger in her right thumb. She decided on the procedure after symptoms failed to improve even with steroid injection treatments. While she initially expected a simple surgery, she shared that it actually took longer than anticipated due to significant inflammation inside the finger.

In a video uploaded to her YouTube channel 'VIVO TV' on the 3rd, Song discussed her recent health status and disclosed her struggle with trigger finger. She mentioned that since the beginning of the year, she has been managing her lifestyle by practicing a 'Healthy Grandma Routine,' also known as the 'Geon-hal Routine.'

However, she noted that due to the pain and discomfort in her finger, she hasn't even been able to maintain her consistent habit of journaling. Showing her right thumb, Song explained, “It is slightly swollen here. It is currently swollen and red.” In the video, the swelling around her right thumb is visibly more pronounced compared to her left hand.

Trigger finger is a condition where the tendon that moves the finger does not pass smoothly through the surrounding tissue, causing pain or a catching sensation. It can cause a 'clicking' sensation when bending or extending the finger, or stiffness in the morning. If symptoms worsen, the act of straightening the finger itself can become difficult.

Song stated that while she received treatment to alleviate the symptoms, it was not sufficiently effective. She announced her hospitalization and surgery schedule, saying, “I even received steroid injections, but it didn't get better, so I finally decided to have surgery.” At the time, she explained that it wasn't serious and that the surgery would only take about 5 to 10 minutes.

However, her account after completing the actual surgery differed slightly from her expectations. After being discharged, she told the staff members who visited her home, “It wasn't as simple as I thought, so it took some time,” explaining, “Because there was a lot of inflammation inside.” Immediately after the surgery, she was seen recovering while applying ice packs to her hand.

The staff members stepped in to personally provide 'nursing care' for Song following her surgery. As the video title itself highlights 'The P's Nursing Care,' the staff visited her home to help with her daily life, as it was difficult for her to use her hand properly. Song welcomed them in comfortable attire, maintaining her signature calm and cheerful atmosphere.

This recent update aligns with the self-management Song has been emphasizing lately. She explained that she has been practicing the 'Geon-hal Routine,' which focuses on maintaining long-term lifestyle habits rather than simple weight management. While this finger condition might seem like a relatively minor inconvenience in daily life, it can be a significant limitation for the individual, as it affects basic activities such as writing or grasping objects.
