Will 'Kkokkomu' Reveal the Secret of Seon Pharmacy's Legendary Burn Ointment? A Story with a Twist

SBS's 'Kkokkomu,' the shortened name for 'The Story of the Day That Bites Its Tail,' will use its June 11 broadcast to reveal for the first time the full story behind the burn ointment once made by Seon Pharmacy in Wangsimni, Seoul.

In the episode, 'Kkokkomu' digs into the mystery surrounding Seon Pharmacy's burn ointment, a subject that has stirred major attention across social media and online communities. The program will be joined by three story guests: Winter of the K-pop group aespa, actor Shin Eun-jung, and singer Shin Sung.

Seon Pharmacy, which was located inside Haengdang Market in Seongdong-gu, Seoul, became known for a burn ointment that the pharmacy prepared directly. As word of its reported effectiveness spread from person to person, the pharmacy drew large crowds of visitors. When the 'Kkokkomu' production team began receiving tips about the case, more than 200 reports poured in almost immediately. According to the program, that marks the highest number of tips ever received for a single item in 'Kkokkomu' broadcast history.

The ointment had already become a major topic even before the episode aired, as online posts claiming to have experienced its effects continued to appear in large numbers. With personal accounts piling up, the production team set out to track down the identity and current whereabouts of the pharmacist who made the ointment, as well as the reason the pharmacy suddenly disappeared.

The search became an unusually persistent investigation. To find the pharmacist, who had abruptly closed the pharmacy and vanished around 25 years earlier, the production team even traveled to the United States, a trip covering a distance of 8,400 kilometers.

After hearing the story connected to Seon Pharmacy's burn ointment, aespa's Winter said she was moved, calling it 'a story like a warm fairy tale.' Singer Shin Sung was shaken after encountering the unexpected identity of one informant, reacting, 'How could something like this happen? It really gives me chills.'
