'Heart Signal 5' Choi So-yoon Faces Character Controversy Over Alleged Interference With Park Woo-yeol and Kang Yu-kyung

Choi So-yoon of Channel A's program 'Heart Signal 5' has become the subject of a character controversy after her actions as the show's so-called Megi-nyeo were shown in Episode 8 and in the preview for Episode 9.

Online users have focused most sharply on a scene from Episode 8 in which Choi So-yoon interrupted Park Woo-yeol and Kang Yu-kyung while the two were spending time together eating ramen. Viewers are also pointing to several other moments, arguing that her behavior went beyond ordinary tension among the residents.

In the episode, Choi So-yoon stepped in when Park Woo-yeol, whom she likes, was about to cook and eat ramen alone with Kang Yu-kyung. Seeing the two together, she asked, "What are you two doing so secretly?" She then turned away from their intimate-looking moment and went to the shared living room, where she suddenly suggested a group ramen gathering by asking the other residents, "Anyone want ramen?" She led everyone into the kitchen where Park Woo-yeol and Kang Yu-kyung had been.

Once the mood was broken, Kang Yu-kyung left the scene, and Park Woo-yeol had no choice but to cook ramen for everyone. At that point, Choi So-yoon flashed a meaningful smile and quietly stepped back. Online users criticized the moment, saying that what they viewed as her attempt to interfere had crossed the line and raised questions about her character.

Choi So-yoon also drew attention during the Japan trip, where she bought the same ring as Park Woo-yeol and made it appear to the other residents as if the two were wearing couple rings. Kang Yu-kyung was seen looking upset. Park Woo-yeol had not intended the rings to have a couple-ring meaning, and once the situation created that impression, he immediately took his ring off the next day.

The preview for Episode 9 continued the controversy surrounding Choi So-yoon. In the preview, she said, "I don't know how to break this up," referring to Park Woo-yeol and Kang Yu-kyung. She then went to the sarangbang where the two were watching a movie and interrupted them by asking, "What are you two doing?"
