Yoo Jae-suk Tells Thyroid Cancer Survivor Ji Ye-eun, "As You Get Older, You Have to Say Goodbye to Things You Like"
On Netflix variety show "Yoo Jae-suk Camp," Yoo Jae-suk discussed self-discipline, health management and giving up favorite habits with Ji Ye-eun.
On the Netflix variety show "Yoo Jae-suk Camp," all episodes of which were released on the 2nd, Yoo Jae-suk opened up about his personal rules for life and the ways he manages himself in everyday routines.

Yoo emphasized the importance of taking care of one's health to Ji Ye-eun, who has gone through thyroid cancer. While grilling meat, Ji said with a laugh, "I like that sauce. I have a child's palate." Yoo responded with advice, saying, "Your tastes may still be like a child's, but your health is no longer that of a child. Be careful."
He continued, "I also really like sweet things. But I hold back. In the past, I used to eat a whole cake at a time. But you have to say goodbye to the things you like." With that, he stressed that managing one's body becomes extremely important as a person gets older.
When Ji said, "I feel like I'm going to cry," Yoo said, "Every time the first digit of your age changes, you have to give up one thing." He again underlined that aging requires restraint and self-control.
Lee Kwang-soo agreed with the sentiment, recalling, "Ten years ago, Jae-suk hyung advised me, 'I think you should cut down on coffee a bit.' He really liked coffee himself." Yoo then shared, "That's right. When I reached my late 30s, I quit smoking."
Yoo said, "At some point, I realized it: 'Ah, this is how I have to say goodbye to the things I like.' I think that as you live, you end up letting go of one thing at a time." He emphasized once more the importance of parting with things one enjoys for the sake of health and discipline.
Ji Ye-eun temporarily suspended her activities in August of last year due to health problems. At the time, the exact name of her condition was not disclosed, but on the 26th of last month, she revealed on "Yoo Jae-suk Camp" that she had battled thyroid cancer.
