Yun Nam-no repays debt of gratitude to Park Eun Young amid 600 million won debt

Chef Yun Nam-no, who gained public recognition through 'Culinary Class Wars,' revealed his deep humanity by sharing honest stories from his difficult past.

Even during moments when he had to worry about survival after taking on massive debt during the restaurant startup process, his decision to not forget the kindness received from a friend and attempt to repay it—even if late—brought warmth to viewers.

On the 3rd, a video titled 'Eun Young Comes to Repay the Favor: Eating a Bowl of Baeksuk While Revealing Chef & My Fridge Behind-the-Scenes at the Valley' was released as part of the content 'Yoon Nam-no Plan' on the YouTube channel 'Studio Slam.'

Upon meeting his close friend Chef Park Eun Young that day, Yun Nam-no immediately handed her a prepared envelope of money. He cautiously opened the conversation, saying, “I was truly so sorry to you.”

He continued, “Actually, I went to your wedding, but I only wrote my name and couldn't give a wedding gift,” confessing, “I really had no money back then. Because of opening the restaurant, I only had 80,000 won in my bank account.”

At the time, he had poured all his funds into the massive challenge of starting a business. Although his heart was with her during the joyous occasion of a close person, his practical circumstances prevented him from even showing a token of celebration.

When Park Eun Young asked back in response to the unexpected confession, “Was it because you had no money?”, Yun Nam-no answered honestly, “It was because I had no money that I couldn't give it.”

In response, Park Eun Young joked, “I talked bad about you a lot. I saw you coming, and I even saw you eating,” drawing laughter. However, between the two, trust and friendship built over a long time sat much larger than any resentment.

Yun Nam-no expressed his apologetic feelings while delivering the belated wedding gift. When Park Eun Young expressed surprise, saying, “I didn't expect this much,” Yun Nam-no shared his sincerity, saying, “I couldn't put in a lot. Instead, I wanted to buy you something you need for your home.”

The relationship between the two went beyond mere broadcast colleagues; they were colleagues and friends who remembered each other's difficult times.

Yun Nam-no also recalled the help Park Eun Young showed during the opening of his restaurant. He expressed his gratitude, saying, “Park Eun Young looked at a specific laptop and asked, ‘Should I buy this for you?’, and I immediately said ‘Yes.’ She bought it for me the very next day. She is a real boss lady.”

Park Eun Young also recalled the early days of Yun Nam-no's startup, stating she wanted to help after seeing a situation where there seemed to be a lack of even the notebooks employees needed to write down their tasks.

The two also revealed behind-the-scenes stories from the filming of JTBC's 'Chef & My Fridge.' They showed the human relationships existing behind the fierce competition in the program, ranging from the chefs' different eating habits to episodes from the filming set.

In particular, Yun Nam-no did not hide the practical burdens he had to bear during his recent startup process. It is known that he took out a loan of approximately 600 million won while opening his restaurant in Apgujeong-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul.

Previously, on MBC's 'The Manager,' he had also revealed the hardships of a founder hidden behind success, stating, “I won't have a salary for the time being because the loan interest has to be paid.”

Behind the glamorous television appearances and fame, there were times of debt, management burdens, and a fierce struggle for survival. However, Yun Nam-no did not forget the person who reached out to him during his difficult times, and he showed the true meaning of relationships by repaying his debt of gratitude, even if late.
