Initial school violence post against Cha Ye-ryun blocked via temporary measure
The original post alleging school violence by actress Cha Ye-ryun has been subject to a temporary measure, blocking access online while her agency denies all claims.
The original online post alleging that actress Cha Ye-ryun committed school violence at Junggye Middle School in Seoul was subject to a temporary measure on the 2nd. While HB Entertainment denied the claims as groundless on the 30th of last month, the blocking of the post does not confirm the truthfulness of the allegations.
The initial post that sparked allegations of school violence surrounding actress Cha Ye-ryun has been blocked from access online. As the controversy enters a new phase with the original text being subject to a temporary measure, additional allegations and rebuttals have been surfacing following the total denial of the claims by her agency. However, the blocking of the post does not signify that the contents of the allegation have been proven true or false, and the dispute over the truth remains ongoing.
According to online communities on the 2nd, a post titled "Please stop the activities of the female actress born in '85 who is a school violence perpetrator," which was posted on the 29th of last month, has been processed with a temporary measure. The post displayed a notice stating that it was subject to a temporary measure in accordance with Article 44-2 of the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection.
A temporary measure is a procedure that blocks access to a post for a certain period when it is difficult to determine whether it infringes on rights, such as defamation, or when a dispute between parties is expected. It has not been confirmed who requested this measure or whether it was made following an application by Cha Ye-ryun's side. Therefore, the fact that the original text is no longer visible cannot be used to judge the truthfulness of the allegations.
Previously, the author of the post, identified as "A," claimed to have suffered continuous physical assault and bullying from a female actress during their time attending Junggye Middle School in Seoul. In particular, A appealed that they suffered a ruptured eardrum after being slapped and demanded an apology from the actress as well as the cessation of her entertainment activities. Although A did not directly mention the actress's real name in the post, Cha Ye-ryun was identified online based on clues such as her birth year and the school she attended.
As the allegations spread, Cha Ye-ryun's agency, HB Entertainment, issued an official statement on the 30th of last month, completely denying the claims and stating, "Upon verification, it is groundless." Subsequently, as additional allegations and rebuttals from individuals claiming to be classmates of Cha Ye-ryun continued, conflicting claims have been clashing online. On the 1st, the agency maintained its existing position of denial without issuing a separate additional statement.
The controversy has extended beyond Cha Ye-ryun personally to her YouTube channel and her family. Related comments have appeared on Cha Ye-ryun's YouTube channel, "Cha Jang-geum Cha Ye-ryeon," and on the social media of her husband, actor Joo Sang-wook, with suspicions also being raised that Cha Ye-ryun is deleting comments unfavorable to herself.
In response, the production team of the YouTube channel explained regarding comment management, "YouTube comments are managed by the production team's judgment without the involvement of the cast." They further stated, "We will deactivate some videos and comment sections to prevent the indiscriminate spread of rumors and personal attacks against the family." The intention is to prevent attacks on the family and the spread of unverified claims, regardless of the factual truth of the allegations.
With the agency dismissing the school violence allegations as groundless and the initial exposé now subject to a temporary measure, the controversy has met another point of contention. However, the blocking of access to the post is merely a temporary measure regarding whether rights have been infringed and does not serve as a judicial judgment or factual verification of the truth of the exposé. As the conflicting claims of the parties continue, the reality of the allegations appears to need to be determined through further verification of the facts.
