Lee Kyung-sil thanks Kim Ji-sun for 100 million won loan during debt crisis
Comedian Lee Kyung-sil expressed deep gratitude to her colleague Kim Ji-sun, who lent her 100 million won when she faced a financial crisis regarding her apartment.
Comedian Lee Kyung-sil revealed on the YouTube channel Jisik Inside that Kim Ji-sun lent her 100 million won to help resolve an apartment debt crisis. Lee, who required the funds after investment plans failed three years ago, took approximately one year to repay the full amount.
Comedian Lee Kyung-sil expressed profound gratitude to her colleague Kim Ji-sun, who lent her a large sum of money without hesitation during a period when Lee urgently needed 100 million won due to apartment debt issues. Lee, who noted she had never borrowed money from colleagues before, became tearful while recalling the help Kim Ji-sun provided during that desperate situation. Although it took approximately one year to repay the full 100 million won, Lee stated she will never forget the sentiment received at that time.
On the YouTube channel Jisik Inside, a video titled "The Reason Why Networking is Completely Useless After 40 Years in Broadcasting" was released on the 31st of last month. Appearing on "Jisik Inside Invitation," Lee Kyung-sil looked back on her broadcasting career and shared the story of the first time she borrowed a large sum of money from a colleague.
“I have never borrowed money from colleagues, but the year before last, when things were noisy due to apartment issues, I asked a colleague for a loan for the first time,” Lee revealed. At the time, she needed approximately 200 million won but was in a frantic situation because she could not secure 100 million won.
The person she requested help from was Kim Ji-sun, with whom she maintains a close friendship. Lee recalled the moment, saying, “I called Kim Ji-sun and said, ‘Unnie is trying to resolve this, but I am short 100 million won. Can you lend me as much as you can?’” Fearing she might place too much burden on her colleague, she did not immediately demand the full 100 million won and instead explained her situation first.
Kim Ji-sun's response was much faster than expected. Lee revealed the content of the message received shortly after Kim replied "Okay" to her call. Kim reportedly messaged, “Unnie, don't borrow money from here and there. I will just send you 100 million won.” Lee expressed her overwhelming gratitude and tears at the time, repeatedly thanking her junior colleague who reached out so readily and trusted her during a desperate moment.
She also shared the process of repaying the money. “I wanted to pay it back all at once, but it wasn't possible,” Lee explained, adding, “I think it took about a year to repay the full 100 million won.” While the debt was fully repaid, the consideration and trust shown by Kim Ji-sun remained in her heart long after the financial obligation was settled.
Lee said her gratitude toward Kim Ji-sun continues to surface in her daily life. “My gratitude for Ji-sun is so full that when I make something, the first person I think of is Ji-sun,” she emphasized, adding, “The person I am most grateful to right now is Ji-sun.” She joked that when she sends messages saying, “I won't forget my gratitude to you until I die,” Kim Ji-sun waves it off, saying, “Unnie, stop it.” In those moments, Lee laughs and replies, “No, I am truly grateful.”
Previously, in May last year, news drew attention when a 293㎡ (approximately 89 pyeong) apartment in Ichon-dong, Yongsan District, Seoul, owned by Lee Kyung-sil, was put up for court auction due to debt issues. At the time, Lee stated, “To give you the conclusion first, it was resolved well,” and added, “I was flustered and surprised because the article came out while I was in the middle of resolving it.”
She explained that after taking a break from broadcasting for several years, she began investing to secure a stable income, but the debt issues arose because things did not go according to plan starting three years ago. It is reported that the apartment auction procedure was canceled after the related debt was resolved. For Lee Kyung-sil, who asked a colleague for help for the first time amidst an economic crisis, Kim Ji-sun's 100 million won remains a token of a long-lasting bond that goes beyond simple financial support.
