Shinji asks husband Moon Won not to interfere in her music
Singer Shinji has set clear boundaries with her husband, Moon Won, requesting that he refrain from involving himself in her musical activities despite his supportive intentions.
Singer Shinji requested that her husband Moon Won refrain from intervening in her musical activities and Koyote work during a marriage counseling session shared on her YouTube channel on the 21st. While Moon Won expressed a desire to write songs for her to provide practical solutions, Shinji noted such gestures can become a burden.

Singer Shinji has drawn a clear line regarding her musical activities, stating that while she is grateful for her husband Moon Won's active expressions of affection, he should not intervene in her music. While Moon Won wishes to help his wife by even writing songs for her, Shinji revealed that such gestures can actually become a burden. The couple's subtle conflict, arising from differing ways of expressing their mutual love, was made public.
On the 21st, a video titled "Real feelings I first confessed to my husband... We went to marriage counseling" was uploaded to the YouTube channel How About Shinji. The video captures Shinji and Moon Won undergoing psychological counseling to share their personalities and the honest feelings they had previously found difficult to voice.
During the session, Moon Won explained that when his wife shares her difficulties, he tends to go beyond simply listening and tries to find direct solutions. He described his personality as one that seeks out ways to help alleviate the hardships of others.
“I have always been the style to offer solutions,” Moon Won stated, revealing that if he hears that Shinji needs solo songs, he wants to write them for her himself. “I want to write a song and say, ‘How about this style?’ and give it to her. I want to solve it immediately,” he said, implying that providing practical help to his wife is his way of expressing love.
However, regardless of her husband's intentions, Shinji made her position clear that interference in her musical activities is burdensome. “I have told him several times. That is not what I want,” she said, expressing that rather than presenting solutions whenever she shares her concerns, she wants him to accept her in the way she desires.
Shinji was particularly firm regarding Koyote activities and her individual musical work. “Regarding Koyote music or my personal musical activities, he might want to do well for me, but I would prefer he does not involve himself,” she said. She clarified that this is not a critique of her husband's skill or sincerity, but a statement that she wishes to proceed with her music based on her own judgment and choices.
Shinji's cautious attitude was also driven by consideration for her husband. “I think that is an issue where he and I could clash,” she explained, noting that if Moon Won puts his heart into making a song to help her and she rejects it because it is not to her liking, he could be hurt. She expressed concern that actions started with good intentions could unintentionally escalate into emotional arguments.
Shinji also confessed that her own heart is not entirely at ease. “I will try to understand his heart, and that is what becomes a stress for me,” she revealed. This suggests a conflict between her desire to gratefully accept her husband's kindness and her desire to maintain her musical standards. Ultimately, what Shinji seeks is not her husband's help, but an attitude of trust and respect when she says she is okay.
The counselor empathized with Shinji's position, advising that if a wife says she is okay, the husband may accept those words at face value. The counselor pointed out that rather than trying to solve every problem because of love, it is important to first observe what kind of help the partner actually wants.
Shinji emphasized that she does not doubt Moon Won's affection. “Even if he doesn't try too hard, I know he loves me immensely. His existence alone is enough,” she said. She conveyed her sincerity that her husband's love is not proven only by him doing things for her, and that his presence by her side is sufficient to make her feel loved.
After the counseling, Moon Won shared his thoughts on the experience, saying, “There were things I couldn't say outwardly, but coming here, they are coming out bit by bit.” It appears the session served as an opportunity to understand that intentions to help can sometimes be a burden and that refusing help is not a lack of love.
Shinji married the singer Moon Won, who is seven years younger, on May 2 at The Raum Art Center in Gangnam-gu, Seoul. The two met as DJ and guest on the 2024 MBC Standard FM program Lee Yoon-seok and Shinji's Sing Sing Show and developed into a couple, announcing their marriage last June. As their honest conversations about discovering their differences after marriage are revealed, attention is turning to the importance of respect and communication alongside love in a marriage.
