Figure Skating Star Cha Jun-hwan May Join tvN Sitcom 'Gungjeon Land' While Continuing as Athlete and Actor
Cha Jun-hwan is positively reviewing an offer to star in tvN’s new sitcom 'Gungjeon Land,' a potential acting return after 17 years.
Figure skating star Cha Jun-hwan may be preparing to return to acting while continuing his career on the ice, according to his agency Fantagio.

Fantagio said Cha is positively reviewing reports that he will appear in tvN’s new sitcom 'Gungjeon Land.' The project marks tvN’s return to the sitcom format after a long interval and is expected to follow the everyday lives of part-time workers at an amusement park, offering viewers light, wholesome comedy.
Cha has been offered the role of Seong Dae-han, the lead character. If he accepts, the casting would place the former child actor back in front of drama audiences after a long break from entertainment work.
Cha made his debut as a child actor in 2006, appearing in the MBC drama 'Miracle' when he was five years old. He later appeared in 'Best Theater,' 'Night After Night,' and 'The Return of Iljimae.' After the 2009 KBS2 drama 'The Accidental Couple,' he left the entertainment industry and moved fully into skating.
He remains affiliated with Fantagio, an entertainment agency, which has fueled expectations that he could pursue activities as both an actor and television personality in the future. For that reason, the sitcom offer is seen as one he is highly likely to accept. If he does, it would amount to his return as an actor after 17 years.
However, taking on acting work would not mean Cha is retiring from figure skating. He is still under 25 years old, an age at which he can continue competing for several more years.
At the 2026 Milano Cortina Winter Olympics, Cha recorded fourth place in the men’s singles event, the highest Olympic finish ever achieved by a South Korean man in that discipline. That result also means he has every reason to keep aiming for an Olympic medal.
