Actor Jang Mi-in-ae, 42, is preparing to return after having stepped away from the entertainment industry following marriage, childbirth and other changes in her personal life.

On June 3, Jang wrote on her social media account, "I'm starting again. The truth is, I was an actress. But after becoming a mother, my baby came before me, and at some point I had forgotten the person I was. I got my nails done for the first time in five years, and somehow that simple thing made me so happy. I thought, right, I used to like things like this. Little by little, I am meeting the version of myself I had forgotten."

In the same post, she explained the preparation process behind a personal brand she had been working on for more than a year. Jang said she had spent that time preparing a brand of her own, traveling back and forth to distant places, learning the work involved and even establishing a corporation. However, just before the brand was ready to be introduced publicly, she said she had to let everything go for several reasons, and even the names she had prepared were ultimately not registered.

Jang added that she is now trying to think through and build a brand name again from the beginning. Rather than waiting until everything was perfectly prepared and risking never starting at all, she said she realized it was far better to begin again. She asked people to slowly watch over her as she changes going forward, raising anticipation for her next steps.

Jang had effectively announced her retirement on March 30, 2020, when she posted on her social media account that she would no longer work as an actress in South Korea. In May 2022, she registered her marriage with a businessman. Five months later, she gave birth to a son.
