Kim Soo-hyun Resumes Activities with Fashion Ad Campaign Amid Legal Battles

Actor Kim Soo-hyun, who saw a shift in momentum following the arrest of Kim Se Ui, the head of Garosero Institute, is resuming his activities with an advertisement shoot. This marks the first official activity for Kim Soo-hyun after a hiatus lasting approximately one year amidst a truth-seeking controversy.

On July 14, he is scheduled to shoot an advertisement for the Philippine fashion brand Bench. It is noteworthy that his first schedule following his comeback is an advertisement shoot. In advertising, the model's image is of utmost importance. Over the past year, Kim Se Ui claimed that the late Kim Sae-ron was dating Kim Soo-hyun when she was a minor, and that pressure from Sae-ron's side to repay debts played a decisive role in the late individual's death.

Due to these claims, Kim Soo-hyun's image plummeted, leading to delays in the release of his filmed works and a situation where the advertising industry began to 'cut ties' with him one after another. However, the atmosphere has completely shifted in Kim Soo-hyun's favor after the police concluded that Kim Se Ui's claims were false, and the court issued an arrest warrant citing concerns over destruction of evidence and flight risk. It appears that Bench acted quickly to recruit Kim Soo-hyun.

Now, the most pressing interest lies in the civil trials. On the 10th, the 14th Civil Division of the Suwon District Court will hold the third pleading date for a damage claim lawsuit worth 3.96 billion KRW filed by health functional food company FromBio against Kim Soo-hyun and his agency, Gold Medalist. Since this is the first civil trial held after Kim Se Ui was sent to custody, the outcome is bound to influence the flow of future lawsuits.

Kim Soo-hyun had halted his activities, including the filming of the Disney+ series 'Knockoff,' after allegations regarding Kim Sae-ron were raised. Additionally, he is involved in damage claim lawsuits totaling in the 10 billion KRW range from various advertisers, including FromBio, Cuckoo Electronics, Trendmaker, Classys, Eider, and Mido.
