Lee Joon-hyuk to work after winning 1.3 billion won in 'The Ordinary Jackpot'

While most people would quit their jobs immediately after winning the lottery, Lee Joon-hyuk chooses to go to work. Even after securing a massive 1.3 billion won prize, he refuses to submit his resignation and instead boards the crowded "hell subway" once again. However, he is not returning to the office with the same mindset as before.

In the TVING original series 'The Ordinary Jackpot,' actor Lee Joon-hyuk transforms into an ordinary office worker whose entire perspective on his company and life shifts completely after winning the first prize in the lottery.

The teaser poster and trailer for 'The Ordinary Jackpot,' released on the 12th, capture the unique commute of sales team leader Gong Eun-tae (Lee Joon-hyuk).

Based on a popular web novel of the same name, the series is an office growth story about Gong Eun-tae, a worker for whom simply enduring each day is an overwhelming struggle, until he unexpectedly wins the lottery. The prize money is a staggering 1.3 billion won. However, rather than quitting, this stroke of luck leads him to choose his career over resignation.

The released poster features Gong Eun-tae's employee ID card and his winning lottery ticket placed side by side. Accompanied by the phrase "Work instead of resigning!", the image instantly highlights the series' unique premise. By placing an ordinary worker's ID next to a life-changing ticket, the poster sparks curiosity about why he intends to stay at his company despite his newfound wealth.

The trailer first depicts Gong Eun-tae's former life. Despite his title as team leader, he is a "sandwich team leader," squeezed between demanding superiors and subordinates. He endures the daily grind of the "hell subway" and the stifling absurdities of corporate life, simply trying to maintain a peaceful existence.

Then, the event that changes everything occurs: he wins the first prize in the lottery.

Contrary to expectations, Gong Eun-tae does not write a resignation letter. Instead, he heads back to the office. With a completely different glint in his eyes, he declares, "I'm going to try turning this company upside down."\

The moment he acquires 1.3 billion won, the company is ironically no longer a place he must endure for survival. Since he no longer needs to walk on eggshells around his boss to secure a paycheck, the office transforms into a space where he can finally express the emotions and desires he had long suppressed.

Lee Joon-hyuk portrays Gong Eun-tae, who struggles in the awkward position of a "youngest team leader" despite a rapid promotion. The core of the series follows his journey as he gradually regains control over his life through the catalyst of the massive windfall.

Most interestingly, the series subverts the common trope that winning the lottery leads to immediate resignation. It presents the paradox that money may not liberate a person from the workplace, but can instead fundamentally change their attitude toward it. Through a blend of comedy and realistic office life, the show explores why people continue to work after gaining economic freedom and the difference between working for survival versus working by choice.

The cast includes Lee Joon-hyuk, Seo Hyun-woo, and Oh Dae-hwan, with director Yoon Young-bin, known for the film 'Gangneung,' handling both direction and the screenplay.

'The Ordinary Jackpot' will be exclusively available on TVING starting September 10 at 6 PM. It will then premiere on tvN on September 14 at 9 PM, airing every Monday and Tuesday.
