Cha Tae-hyun and Uhm Ji-won to star in Netflix's 'Reinstated Policeman'

Actors Cha Tae-hyun and Uhm Ji-won will reunite as a married couple in the Netflix original film 'Reinstated Policeman.' The new project, which blends slice-of-life comedy, thrilling action, and family drama, is set to reach a global audience.

Netflix has confirmed the production of 'Reinstated Policeman' and revealed the lead cast. The film is a family action comedy centered on the unpredictable events that unfold when a wife, believed to be away on a trip, is actually deployed for a secret National Intelligence Service mission, leaving her husband to suddenly take full charge of raising their five children.

At the heart of the story are Dong-sik, a violent crimes unit detective, and his wife, Kyeong-ah.

Cha takes on the role of Dong-sik, a detective facing a promotion review. Once an ordinary officer, he is suddenly thrust into the struggle of "solo parenting" five children due to his wife's sudden absence. Amidst the chaos of childcare, he becomes embroiled in a major operation involving a criminal organization, forcing him to balance his roles as both a detective and a father.

Having showcased relatable, humanistic characters in films like 'Scandal Makers' and 'Along with the Gods,' as well as the Disney+ series 'Moving,' Cha is expected to bring his signature comedic sense to the realistic struggles of a breadwinner in this new work.

Uhm plays Kyeong-ah, Dong-sik's wife and a former ace police officer. After spending 10 years solely responsible for childcare, she begins a double life by accepting a secret mission for the NIS in exchange for being reinstated to the police force. She adds tension to the film by oscillating between being an ordinary mother and a secret agent performing high-stakes operations.

Having proven her wide acting spectrum through dramas like 'Little Women' and the Netflix series 'Dear Hongrang,' Uhm undergoes a new character transformation that traverses both action and comedy.
