Jang Hang-jun Says He Collapsed in Spain After Taking Blood Pressure Medicine Twice, Yet Still Tried to Make People Laugh
Film director Jang Hang-jun recalled collapsing during a trip to Spain after mistakenly taking a double dose of blood pressure medication.
Film director Jang Hang-jun opened up about a frightening incident in Spain, where he collapsed during a trip after accidentally taking his blood pressure medication twice. Even while receiving emergency care, he said he somehow remained focused on making the situation funny.

On June 17, Jang appeared on the YouTube channel Bibo TV and shared the story of a medical emergency he experienced while traveling in Spain. The confession came after he heard another person's account of being taken to a hospital overseas with a broken leg suffered while running.
Jang responded by saying, "I had a similar experience," and began recounting what had happened to him. He explained that he had gone to Spain with members of his directing team, and they had planned to go running together in the morning.
According to Jang, he usually takes blood pressure medication in the morning. But as it came time to leave, he could not remember whether he had already taken his dose. He said everyone in the group told him, "You probably haven't taken it, right?" so he took another pill. Looking back, he admitted that taking two pills was exactly what he was not supposed to do, but that was what happened.
At first, nothing seemed wrong. Jang said that once he started running, he felt refreshed and good. The problem began only after he arrived at the destination, when his vision gradually started to go dark. He said he did not notice the danger at first because his blood pressure had been rising little by little as he ran.
Jang recalled that he sat at a cafe, drank coffee, and kept talking with the others. Because he is someone who talks a lot, he said, he continued speaking even as his condition was worsening. Then, in the middle of talking, he suddenly collapsed, alarming the people around him, who cried out and asked, "Director, what's wrong?"
He said the scene quickly became chaotic because a group of Asians were shouting inside the cafe. A German doctor who was passing by came over to help. Jang said his memory of the moment was hazy, but he vaguely remembered lying on the floor while people lifted his legs and looked down at him.
The doctor asked him questions very kindly, Jang continued, but he said he could not speak English well enough to respond properly. The only answers he could manage were either "thank you" or "no thank you," a remark that made the story turn comedic despite the seriousness of the situation.
There was another fortunate coincidence at the cafe. Jang said one of the women seated there was an emergency medicine nurse at a Spanish hospital. As a result, both the German doctor and the Spanish emergency medicine nurse came forward and provided first aid on the spot.
When Jang's condition began to improve, an ambulance arrived. He said he was told that, in that state, he had to go to the hospital no matter what. Jang then turned the ordeal into dry humor, saying, "This is where the real trip began." At the hospital, he said, he did nothing but lie down, and it took eight hours before he was discharged. "That was the true trip," he joked.
A photo from the time he received emergency treatment was also shown. In the picture, Jang is lying on the floor but still appears to be smiling. He said he did not even remember whether he had been smiling, but added that even in that kind of situation, he still had a naturally smiling face, trying to make people laugh right up to the end.
