Jun Jin and Ryu Yi-seo prepare for pregnancy through IVF
Shinhwa's Jun Jin and wife Ryu Yi-seo share their journey of preparing for pregnancy, including careful lifestyle changes during IVF treatment.
Ryu Yi-seo, wife of Shinhwa member Jun Jin, recently shared how she is meticulously selecting even everyday cosmetics and hair products while undergoing IVF (in vitro fertilization). She is carefully adjusting her lifestyle habits as part of her journey to conceive.

In a video released on her YouTube channel 'My Love Ryu Yi-seo' on the 27th, Ryu introduced various items she uses, including sunscreen, mask packs, makeup, nail supplies, and hair and oral care products. While the video was framed as a 'product recommendation' list, she mentioned several times that she is currently undergoing IVF during the selection process.
Specifically, while introducing a hair oil, she noted that although she is satisfied with its function and scent, she is currently refraining from using it. "Since I am undergoing IVF right now, I can't use it much, but they say it provides heat protection up to 232 degrees," Ryu explained. This highlights how she is scrutinizing the ingredients and suitability of even her most common products while preparing for pregnancy.
Her criteria for choosing body lotion have also shifted. "Since I am undergoing IVF right now, I am using fragrance-free products," Ryu said, adding, "You all know how gentle they must be since even newborns can use them." She is prioritizing minimal irritation over scent or texture.
The pregnancy journey of Ryu and Jun is an ongoing endeavor. Since their marriage, the couple has shared their daily lives through various broadcasts and personal channels, offering an honest look at their medical tests and procedures.
A former flight attendant born in 1983, Ryu married Jun in 2020. Jun is a well-known figure, having maintained a long career as a singer in Shinhwa and appearing frequently on variety shows. The couple has showcased their realistic married life on programs such as SBS's 'Same Bed, Different Dreams 2: You Are My Destiny.'
Last March, Ryu revealed via her personal channel that she had begun IVF. At the time, she expressed her hope to try egg retrieval and embryo transfer once more, adding that she hopes their child will resemble Jun's appearance and her own personality.
In April, she also shared the experience of visiting an OB-GYN with Jun for infertility testing and consultation. During that visit, medical staff noted that Ryu's ovarian function was relatively good for her age and provided guidance on potential pregnancy timelines and expected due dates. Jun was also seen realistically imagining the prospect of pregnancy and childbirth while listening to the medical advice.
IVF is an assisted reproductive technology involving ovulation induction, egg retrieval, fertilization, embryo culture, and embryo transfer. The process can carry significant physical and psychological burdens. Because precautions regarding lifestyle, medication, and product use vary based on individual conditions and medical advice, Ryu's careful management of her daily consumption is a significant part of her preparation process.
The items Ryu shared in this video are more than just recommendations; they serve as a record of her ongoing pregnancy journey. By making seemingly minor lifestyle changes, such as switching to fragrance-free products, the couple offers a glimpse into the reality of waiting for a child.
Jun and Ryu have consistently shared both the joys and challenges of their marriage and their path to parenthood. This latest update draws attention not just for the results, but for the heartfelt way the couple navigates each day of this long preparation process.
