Lee Ha-neul announces DJ DOC comeback, but Kim Tschang Yeul denies knowledge
Lee Ha-neul teased a new DJ DOC single for November, but member Kim Tschang Yeul claims he is unaware of the comeback, clouding the group's reunion.
The music industry is buzzing as the group DJ DOC teased a new music release after approximately 15 years, but the possibility of a full group reunion has fallen into uncertainty after member Kim Tschang Yeul stated he was unaware of the comeback.

On the 17th, Kim responded to questions regarding the DJ DOC comeback through multiple media outlets, stating, "I don't know anything about it." This statement comes just one day after Lee Ha-neul personally revealed plans for a new music release.
Previously, on the 16th, Lee released a video titled "DJ DOC finally releasing a single album in November after 15 years!" via his social media and YouTube channel.
In the video, Lee directly announced the comeback plans, saying, "DJ DOC is releasing a single in November after 15 years." He expressed confidence in their long-awaited activities, adding, "Only DOC can do the DJ DOC music style. No one else can."
However, there was no specific mention in the video regarding Kim's participation.
DJ DOC is a three-member group consisting of Lee Ha-neul, Jung Jae-yong, and Kim Tschang Yeul. Having debuted in 1994 with "Superman's Sorrow," they established a unique position in Korean popular music history by releasing numerous hits such as "Murphy's Law," "Dancing with DOC," "Summer Story," "RUN TO YOU," and "I Am This Kind of Person."
The team also formed an image as the so-called "bad boys of the music industry" due to their unrestrained lyrics, straightforward attitude, and musical sense that transcends genre boundaries.
However, much like the team's history, the relationships between the members have not always been smooth.
In particular, after Lee Ha-neul's younger brother and member of the group 45RPM, Lee Hyun-bae, passed away in 2021, the conflict between Lee and Kim surfaced publicly, causing cracks in DJ DOC's group activities.
Later, in 2024, the possibility of a reconciliation was raised when the three members were seen meeting together. At that time, expectations arose that the long-standing conflict might have been somewhat resolved.
However, in subsequent actual activities, Kim's absence continued. During a performance at the end of last year, only Lee and Jung took the stage, leaving the outlook for a full group activity uncertain.
In this situation, fans' expectations grew again as Lee personally teased the "DJ DOC single after 15 years." Since the name DJ DOC itself signifies the combination of the three members, observations naturally followed that this might be a full group comeback including Kim.
But the situation changed as Kim drew a line, saying, "I don't know anything about it."
As of now, specific details have not been disclosed as to whether the November music release mentioned by Lee is a full group music release involving all three members of DJ DOC, or a format centered around Lee and Jung.
Ultimately, the core of this comeback has shifted from "whether DJ DOC is returning" to "which version of DJ DOC is returning."
Having been active for over 30 years since their 1994 debut, DJ DOC has built a brand that is more than just a simple three-member group. Therefore, the participation of even a single member inevitably changes the team's identity and the meaning of the comeback.
With the welcome news of a new song after 15 years and Kim's brief statement that he "doesn't know anything" being delivered simultaneously, whether DJ DOC will make a full group return remains a question for fans for the time being.
