Yoo Ji-ae announces marriage; Lovelyz's Jeong Ye-in leaves playful comment
Former Lovelyz member Yoo Ji-ae has announced her marriage to actor Kwak Si-yang, drawing heartfelt and humorous reactions from her former group members.
As Yoo Ji-ae, a former member of the group Lovelyz, announced her marriage to actor Kwak Si-yang, her longtime fellow members collectively left messages of congratulations. In particular, the youngest member Jeong Ye-in's mischievous comment, “I heard you're marrying me... I loved you, Yoo Ji-ae,” drew laughter and showcased the extraordinary closeness between the members.

Both Kwak Si-yang and Yoo Ji-ae announced on the 3rd that the two will hold a wedding ceremony this coming November. On the same day, Yoo Ji-ae shared a handwritten letter on her SNS, personally delivering the news of her marriage to fans. Her method of reaching out to the fans who have supported her for a long time first was perceived as a reflection of Yoo Ji-ae's characteristic calm and sincere communication.
Congratulations from colleagues also poured in. Kei wrote, “Unnie, huge congratulations,” and Lee Mi-joo expressed her joy, saying, “Congrats congrats chuuuu.” Seo Ji-soo left a short but heartfelt message: “Be happy for a lifetime!”
The reaction from the youngest, Jeong Ye-in, instantly changed the mood. She left a comment saying, “I heard you're marrying me... I loved you, Yoo Ji-ae...” This was a reaction that intentionally exaggerated an expression that could be misunderstood as their actual relationship to induce laughter, clearly showing the intimacy built from working as one team for a long time.
Jin also showed her affection, saying, “Congratulations, my unnie. Let's meet as soon as you get to Korea. I wonder how beautiful you'll be.” The way the members naturally exchange titles like 'unnie' (older sister) and 'maknae' (youngest), going beyond simply congratulating the marriage news, suggests the depth of the relationship that continues even after the group's activities ended.
After their debut in 2014, Lovelyz established their unique pure and lyrical group identity with hits such as “Hi~”, “Ah-Choo”, and “Destiny (My Earth)”. In particular, “Ah-Choo” became a representative hit song for the group, engraving the name Lovelyz in the public consciousness. Their girlish sensibility, sophisticated harmonies, and melodies that make you want to listen repeatedly formed a unique position for Lovelyz in the girl group market at the time.
Since 2021, as the members moved to their respective agencies, full-group activities naturally decreased. However, this did not mean the relationship within the team vanished. While working in their respective fields, the members have maintained their bond by looking after each other's birthdays, anniversaries, and personal milestones. Their meeting as a full group to see fans on a music broadcast stage at the end of last year was an extension of that.
Yoo Ji-ae's marriage announcement has become an occasion to recall those times of Lovelyz. It is particularly meaningful in that the members, who were fresh girls around twenty years old at the time of their debut, are now facing new chapters in their respective lives. While it is not uncommon for group relationships to loosen when group activities end or are suspended in the entertainment industry, Lovelyz, at least based on their public appearances, continues to maintain a very strong bond.
In particular, the wedding ceremony has the potential to be a natural space where the members can gather together again. Fans are also focused on how the Lovelyz members will be present during one of the most important moments in Yoo Ji-ae's life.
While the time they spent together under the name 'Lovelyz' on stage has stopped, the relationship between the members has not ended. The flood of congratulations and joking comments following Yoo Ji-ae's marriage news showed that another form of life for a girl group may not be in music releases or stages, but in the memories and relationships that remain between people.
