Young Tak reveals 'The Form Is Crazy' is his top copyright-earning song

Singer Young Tak has revealed which of his songs has earned him the highest copyright royalties. Surprising many, the track that took first place—surpassing his former signature hit "Why Are You Coming Out from There"—is "The Form Is Crazy."

During the Chuseok special of Munhwa Broadcasting Corporation's "Radio Star" aired on the 23rd, Young Tak shared his thoughts on returning to the program after approximately three years, stating, "I appeared three years ago to promote 'The Form Is Crazy,' and I really benefited a lot thanks to 'Radio Star.'" He explained that his appearance, which was originally intended as a simple promotional stage, drove digital music consumption and ultimately resulted in the unexpected achievement of becoming his number one song in terms of copyright royalty income.

The success of "The Form Is Crazy" was significantly influenced by recent shifts in music consumption patterns. Young Tak attributed the song's ability to surpass "Why Are You Coming Out from There" to the fact that it was "widely utilized in short-form content." A single broadcast exposure led to repeated reproduction through streaming, video content, and short clips, which in turn translated into long-term digital music revenue.

Interestingly, Young Tak is hoping to replicate the "Radio Star" effect once again. Introducing his third studio album and mentioning the title track "Bend," he remarked, "I want to benefit from 'Radio Star' this time as well." Having experienced the success formula of "The Form Is Crazy," he appears to be looking for the same level of public exposure for his new music.

The title "Bend" carries a unique message from Young Tak. He explained that it suggests one does not need to live too rigidly and can sometimes "bend" appropriately. When Sunwoo Yong Nyeo responded by saying, "Just live," Young Tak quipped, "I think I'll have to make one [a song like that]," drawing laughter from the set. The broadcast also drew interest when it was revealed that his hit "Why Are You Coming Out from There" was actually inspired by his real-life dating experiences.

For Young Tak, these remarks signify more than just a ranking of royalties. He demonstrated how the recognition built over his 10-year career as a trot singer is now being monetized through new channels like short-form video and platform content.
