Chef Jeong Ho-young reveals assault and threats from malicious customers

Chef Jeong Ho-young drew sympathy from viewers by opening up about the physical assault and threats he personally experienced while running his restaurant.

Appearing on the KBS2 entertainment program 'Malja Show' broadcast on the 27th, Jeong candidly shared various anecdotes involving the diverse types of customers he has encountered in the food service industry.

"When running a Japanese restaurant, you meet truly diverse customers," he said, introducing his most memorable experiences.

First, he noted, "One customer brought in sashimi they had purchased elsewhere and demanded that we set the table with soy sauce and red chili paste (chojang)." He added, "I politely explained that it would be difficult, but they ultimately refused to understand."

He then revealed an even more shocking experience.

Recalling the situation, Jeong said, "There was a time when the food came out a little late. Of course, there were parts where our service was lacking, but the customer kicked the counter and even pushed my shoulder."

Most importantly, he confessed, "That customer even threatened me, saying, 'I'll make sure you go bankrupt.' I was truly bewildered to see someone get that angry just because the food was slightly delayed."

The cast members could not hide their astonishment at the unexpected stories of assault and threats, showing deep empathy for the realistic hardships faced by small business owners.

During the broadcast, Jeong's signature witty banter continued.

While introducing his connection to Chef Lee Moon Jung, who appeared on 'Culinary Class Wars: Season 2', he also showcased a different side of himself by attempting the choreography for 'BAD' by Ateez member Choi San.

After finishing the dance, Jeong jokingly said, "I am 50 years old now. I'm even dancing just to make a living," turning the studio into a sea of laughter.
