Chef Napoli Matpia Kwon Sung-jun reveals 3.5 billion won building
Culinary Class Wars star Kwon Sung-jun reveals his new 3.5 billion won building and plans for an espresso bar with a massive interior investment.
Chef Kwon Sung-jun, famously known as 'Napoli Matpia,' has revealed his recent transition into a building owner of a property worth 3.5 billion won, alongside his plans for new ventures. Since gaining stardom as a chef, he has begun designing the next chapter of his life by creating his own spaces, drawing attention with his bold investments and distinct tastes.

On July 30, Kwon appeared on the YouTube channel 'Chimchak Man' in a video titled 'Matpia Returns as an Undercover Building Owner (with Kim Poong),' where he showcased a five-story building in Sindang-dong, Jung-gu, Seoul, which he recently purchased.
After leaving a lasting impression on the public as 'Napoli Matpia' in the Netflix variety show 'Culinary Class Wars,' he is now pivoting from chef to entrepreneur, focusing on spatial design and business.
Regarding the property, Kwon noted, "It was newly built around the end of 2021. Since it has been about four years, it is essentially a new building."
He drew significant interest by revealing, "I think the interior will cost nearly 100 million won. The construction is not finished yet."
Notably, his interest in the building extends beyond mere investment; he intends to operate the space himself. He explained that while the first floor is currently being used as a warehouse, he plans to transform it into a cafe.
“The size is about that of an espresso bar. Please look forward to the cafe,” Kwon said, expressing his determination to create a space infused with Italian sensibility.
The broadcast also offered a glimpse into his unique taste in automobiles.
When Chimchak Man expressed interest in a luxury vehicle parked at the building, Kwon revealed he had purchased a Maserati.
However, despite the car's glamorous exterior, it showed signs of a novice driver. Pointing out the scratches, Kwon confessed, "It hasn't even been a month, and I've already scratched it twice. It was my first time driving."
Chimchak Man expressed shock, asking, "Is your first car really a Maserati?" while Kim Poong added, "A Maserati is a car people drive for the vibe if they love Italy."
Kwon drew laughter by showing a humble side, stating, "I bought a touch-up pen. I'm going to try to repair it myself."
A 3.5 billion won building, a massive interior project, and a Maserati as a first car—while his life may appear to be one of pure luxury, the vision Kwon Sung-jun is pursuing is not mere consumption.
It is a process of building a brand and creating a space that embodies his culinary philosophy.
Despite his rapid success, Kwon has shown a human side through his hands-on approach to decorating his space and managing his own car repairs. The next stage for 'Napoli Matpia' is set to move beyond the kitchen and into a space of his own making.
