Ha Won Mi recalls overhearing insults about her plastic surgery

“That woman had so much plastic surgery that her face looks strange.” Even as insults were being hurled right next to her, Ha Won Mi had to stop her husband, Choo Shin Soo, from reacting. She recently shared the details of the gossip she overheard from Korean expats while living in the United States.

On the 23rd, a video capturing the daily life of Ha Won Mi as a housewife in the United States was released on her YouTube channel. While doing housework, Ha Won Mi recalled a ridiculous incident she experienced in 2018 while appearing on the JTBC variety show 'The Stranger' with Choo Shin Soo.

Ha Won Mi, who visited a restaurant the day after the show's first broadcast, recalled, “They suddenly started talking about us right next to us.” Although their faces were not visible due to a partition between the tables, the Korean conversation was clearly audible. They reportedly said things like, “We were so unlucky that we watched it at 2x speed,” and “That woman had so much plastic surgery that her face looks strange,” regarding the couple's appearance.

Upon hearing this, Choo Shin Soo stood up to try and see the faces of the people speaking, but Ha Won Mi stopped him. Eventually, as the people finished their meal and left, she saw their faces through the window. “I realized those were the people who were badmouthing me,” Ha Won Mi recalled.

The experience was not without emotional distress. Ha Won Mi opened up about the hardship she felt at the time, saying, “In the beginning, when I wasn't even a YouTuber or appearing on broadcasts, there were people who openly disliked me.” However, she showed composure by laughing it off, saying, “Now, if an issue arises, I just think, ‘I must have looked pretty.’ If I look ugly, they don't even hate me that much.”

Ha Won Mi, who married Choo Shin Soo in 2002, lives in Texas, United States, with her two sons and one daughter. Her resilient attitude, now able to respond to even rude remarks with a laugh, has drawn attention.
