Dr. Heo Yang-im, ex-wife of Ko Ji-yong, starts new chapter via YouTube

Dr. Heo Yang-im, who recently revealed her divorce from Sechs Kies member Ko Ji-yong, has announced a new beginning by launching her own YouTube channel. Having primarily met the public through her professional identity as a doctor on various broadcasts, Heo plans to engage in more honest communication by sharing her daily life and personal thoughts.

On the 7th, Heo opened her YouTube channel, 'Coque de Heo Yang-il,' and released her first vlog. The video features her introducing the clinic where she serves as the representative director, explaining her medical philosophy, and outlining her future activities.

While introducing her clinic, Heo emphasized medical services centered on health.

“I believe true premium lies in health,” she stated. “Even amidst my busy schedule, my goal is to provide medical services that allow people to take care of their health and live more youthful lives.”

Her career as a doctor has now surpassed 20 years.

“I majored in both Family Medicine and Preventive Medicine,” Heo said while introducing her career. “It has been over 20 years since I became a doctor. I have performed various treatments, including drug therapy, checkups, and IV therapy, and I have also studied nutritional supplements.”

What she emphasized was prevention and management, going beyond simply treating diseases. She explained that her medical philosophy is to manage health in accordance with the body's aging process and provide necessary solutions for individuals, rather than just treating a disease after it occurs.

In particular, Heo expressed her desire to show not only her identity as 'Dr. Heo Yang-im' but also her human side through YouTube.

“I have done a lot of broadcasting for a long time, including live broadcasts,” she explained, noting that her broadcasting activities helped build trust with the public as a doctor.

However, she confessed, “Although I have appeared on many programs, they were almost always medical broadcasts, and I have rarely spoken about myself.”

She continued, “By starting my own channel, I want to communicate with patients, but I also feel that I should leave behind various things about my thoughts and who I am as a person.”

This part symbolically represents Heo's new beginning. Until now, she has been known to the public as Ko Ji-yong's wife, Seung-jae's mother, and a doctor appearing on television. Now, however, she intends to meet the public using her own name and her own stories, rather than through her relationships with others or various titles.

In particular, the opening of this YouTube channel is drawing attention as it marks her first expansion of her field of activity following the recently revealed divorce from Ko Ji-yong.

On the 29th of last month, Ko announced through an official statement that he had divorced Heo approximately two years ago. Regarding the reason for the delayed announcement, he explained that he waited so that their son, Seung-jae, could fully accept the situation and grow up stably.

“The divorce was a decision made to respect each other's paths and to fulfill our respective responsibilities as adults,” Ko said. “Seung-jae understands the new relationship between his mother and father and is currently doing well and staying stable.”

He added, “I will continue to do my best as a father, and although we have separated as a married couple, we are doing well while supporting each other.”

Ko and Heo married in 2013 and had their son, Seung-jae, the following year. They received great love from the public after appearing together on KBS 2TV's 'The Return of Superman,' revealing their family's daily life.

Ko debuted in the entertainment industry in 1997 as a member of Sechs Kies and has since worked as a businessman after leaving the industry following the group's disbandment. While Heo also gained fame through broadcasting, her main profession has been as a doctor for over 20 years.

Now, the two have concluded their relationship as a married couple and are walking their own paths. Ko stated he would remain faithful to his role as a father, while Heo continues her life through her professional field of medicine and her new communication channel, YouTube.

Life continues even after changes in relationships like marriage and divorce.
