Hong Jin-kyung: "Like Friends with My Ex-Husband — Broke Down Crying at My Former Mother-in-Law's Comfort"

On the 17th, on MBC's entertainment program Sora and Jinkyung, Lee So-ra and Hong Jin-kyung visited Paris, France, and shared candid conversations.

Hong Jin-kyung reminisced about the past, saying, "Have you ever been on a date in Paris? I came here while I was working, with a man I was seeing back then. We spent time together, and the two of us went to a train station and just hopped on any train. I remember getting off wherever we felt like."

Lee So-ra cautiously brought up Hong Jin-kyung's ex-husband, saying, "When you married your husband — everyone said you married an incredible person, that your husband was so handsome."

Hong Jin-kyung spoke openly about her ex-husband, saying, "He's a truly good person. Now he's completely like a good friend. As one human being to another, he's a really good friend."

She continued, "Even after we separated, there's a regular cold noodle restaurant we used to frequent together. We take our daughter Rael there — the three of us — and have meals together. We're completely comfortable with it, but it's actually the restaurant staff who get flustered, asking, 'Oh, all three of you came together?'" conveying that they maintain an amicable relationship.

Hong Jin-kyung opened up about her hidden feelings, saying, "During last year's Chuseok after the divorce, I was alone at home and suddenly felt a wave of emptiness wash over me. I thought, 'It's really over now.' I called my former mother-in-law just to check in, and the tears wouldn't stop — I simply couldn't hold them back. It was the first time I had ever sobbed uncontrollably."

She added, "At that moment, my mother-in-law warmly comforted me as I cried. She told me that all sorts of things happen in life, and said, 'You'll do well. You're Rael's mother, so you need to draw on more strength and become stronger' — she was the one encouraging me instead." Hong Jin-kyung expressed her deep gratitude toward her former mother-in-law.
