Jun Hyun-moo recounts narrow escape from thief in India

Entertainer Jun Hyun-moo reveals a chilling experience where he came face-to-face with a thief at his accommodation during a trip to India.

In the upcoming episode of the MBN and SBS Plus variety show 'The Psychopath I Met', scheduled to air on the 23rd, various true crime stories will be presented under the theme "Psychopaths who turned your trip into a nightmare." While exploring the dangers that can strike anyone the moment they let their guard down in an unfamiliar environment, Jun will share his own harrowing travel experience.

Jun revealed that he nearly fell victim to theft while staying at a budget accommodation during a past trip to India. At the time, the door to his room did not lock properly, and he says he felt a strange presence while he was showering.

"I was washing up and felt a bad vibe, so I flung the door open, and someone had come in and was rummaging through my wallet," he recalled. It was a terrifying situation that could have resulted in significant financial loss had he lowered his guard for even a moment.

However, Jun's story took an unexpected turn: after the thief rummaging through the wallet came face-to-face with him, the thief was actually the one who was greatly startled.

Recalling the moment, Jun said, "The thief was very surprised," piquing curiosity. Upon hearing this, Hur Young-ji reacted by shuddering, saying, "Ah, I hate that."

Crimes occurring at travel destinations can be harder to navigate than in one's daily life. Language barriers, unfamiliar geography, and the difficulty of assessing the security of local accommodations or the local safety environment increase the risk. In particular, solo travelers or those using accommodations with easy outsider access are more vulnerable to unexpected crimes.

In addition to Jun's experience, the broadcast will feature various other crime cases that occurred while traveling. Watching the segment, KYUHYUN reflected on his own past travels, saying, "I also spent time and had drinks with strangers at travel destinations, but I think I was just lucky."

He added, "If that person had bad intentions, I might not be here right now either," realizing how dangerous defenseless behavior can be when traveling.

'The Psychopath I Met' is a program that examines human malice and criminal psychology based on real-life cases. In Korea, it reached number 1 in the variety category on Netflix's 'Today's TOP10,' and a Japanese broadcast via the OTT platform ABEMA has also been confirmed.

Bolstered by interest from domestic and international viewers, the production team stated they intend to shed deeper light on real-life crimes and convey the importance of awareness and prevention beyond simple fear.
