Kim Ji-min explains IVF choice: 'I want a healthy baby'
Comedian Kim Ji-min reveals why she chose IVF, emphasizing her desire for a healthy pregnancy over the common perception of infertility.
Comedian Kim Ji-min has opened up about her decision to undergo in vitro fertilization (IVF). She explained that her choice was not driven by difficulty with natural conception, but by a desire to make the healthiest possible choice for pregnancy and childbirth.

During an Instagram Live broadcast on the 14th, Kim responded to questions regarding her decision to pursue IVF, stating, "It wasn't because I couldn't get pregnant, but because I wanted to have a healthy baby truly."
"I haven't been pregnant before, so I don't know, but isn't it just a matter of uncertainty?" she remarked. "Sperm might not be healthy, or eggs might not be healthy. Even God doesn't know that."
She continued, "I wanted to ensure that the best medical and scientific options were utilized. We don't have medical knowledge, so we just followed the hospital's guidance. We didn't try to do anything based on shallow medical knowledge."
Kim also shared her honest thoughts on the overwhelming amount of information available to those preparing for pregnancy. "As those who are preparing will know, there is too much information. If you listen to everything, you won't be able to do anything. I just did as I was told," she confessed.
This perspective differs from the common perception of IVF as a "last resort" when pregnancy fails to occur. Kim explained that rather than focusing on the possibility of conception itself, she wanted to prepare cautiously by following the judgment of medical professionals.
Currently pregnant, Kim also teased the upcoming reveal of the baby's gender. "It will likely come out around next week. Since I already did my pregnancy announcement last time, I will do a gender reveal this time," she said.
She also expressed her hope for a daughter. "Kim Jun-ho wants a daughter very much. I want a daughter too, but a son would be good as well," she added.
Kim Jun-ho and Kim Ji-min, who met through the comedy circuit, married last July. Kim successfully conceived during her first IVF attempt and is expecting to give birth next February.
