Kim Ji-young defends husband against malicious comments: "What you see on screen isn't everything"
Influencer Kim Ji-young opens up about the prejudice and malicious comments directed at her husband, Yoon Soo Young, following their SBS appearance.
Influencer Kim Ji-young, known from 'Heart Signal 4', has shared her honest feelings regarding the malicious comments and public prejudice surrounding her husband, Yoon Soo Young. Expressing regret over the reality where an individual's personality and a couple's relationship are judged solely based on the limited glimpses shown through broadcasts, she emphasized the need for a change in how people view others.

In a video titled 'How does someone live three years after appearing on a dating show?', uploaded to her YouTube channel on the 7th, Kim addressed the various reactions directed at her and Yoon during their appearance on the SBS variety show 'Same Bed, Different Dreams 2: You Are My Destiny'.
During the video, Kim revealed that she was deeply hurt by negative comments specifically targeting her husband. "The malicious comments regarding my husband were truly upsetting," she said, explaining that Yoon's demeanor on the broadcast was not his actual personality, but rather a reflection of him being nervous in an unfamiliar environment.
"You can think of it as the image of a person becoming stiff and frozen amidst countless cameras and people," Kim said. "Because I know my husband, I knew that the intense gaze or facial expressions shown on the broadcast were just how he looks when he is nervous."
She went on to describe how some viewers speculated about Yoon's personality based on his outward appearance and attitude following the broadcast. "There were many comments like 'His facial features look ominous' or 'They will definitely divorce within a few years'," Kim stated. "There were also reactions toward my husband saying things like 'His gaze is too intense' or 'Just by listening to him speak, you can see his self-centered nature'."
She also confessed to receiving comments about herself, such as being "fake" or questioning whether she "makes her partner overly dependent on her."
"While I can't say the appearance on the show isn't us, it isn't everything," Kim said. "I thought it would be nice if people could observe others with a broader perspective."
She added, "I also felt that I should become someone who can be more inclusive," noting that the situation served as an opportunity to reflect on public evaluation and the way she views others.
As dating reality shows and observational variety programs gain popularity, participants are being exposed to high levels of interest alongside excessive judgment and speculation regarding their private lives. As a culture of judging a participant's character and relationships based on short broadcast segments and edited scenes spreads, discussions regarding the protection of participants and a healthy viewing culture are ongoing.
Kim, a former flight attendant, first became known to the public through the Channel A dating reality program 'Heart Signal 4' in 2023. Since then, she dated Yoon, a founder of a book club community who is six years her senior, and the couple married this February.
Prior to their wedding, the two shared news of her pregnancy, and they adjusted their originally scheduled wedding date to start their family. Currently, Kim communicates with fans by sharing her married life and Il-sang through YouTube and SNS.
