Park Seong-ung reveals 17-year-old son who resembles 'New World' character Lee Jung-gu

Actor Park Seong-ung shared a special bond with his 17-year-old son, whom he revealed on television for the first time. From his appearance that brings to mind the iconic character Lee Jung-gu from the movie New World to their friend-like daily life, the heartwarming family story drew smiles from viewers.

On the 4th, Park appeared on the 'Famous Together' segment of KBS1's 'Morning Forum' alongside Uhm Jeong-hwa and Bae Jung-nam, the stars of the movie Okay! Madam 2.

On this day, he shared stories under the theme 'My Friend, My 17-Year-Old Son.'

When announcer Uhm Ji-in remarked, "Is he already 17? If he takes after his parents, he must be a handsome young man," the broadcast sequentially revealed photos of his son's childhood and his recent appearance.

The cast members could not hide their surprise upon seeing the photos, saying, "You can see both Mom and Dad's faces."

What caught everyone's attention most was the atmosphere that was strikingly similar to Park Seong-ung.

Park laughed, saying, "Not long ago, my son looked in the mirror and said, 'I see Lee Jung-gu.'"

He continued, "I think it's because he doesn't have double eyelids. Actually, when I look at my son, I sometimes see Lee Jung-gu too."

He then explained, "The expression in the photo isn't an angry one; it's just a blank expression," which drew laughter.

Lee Jung-gu is the representative villainous character played by Park in the 2013 film New World, and he continues to be widely loved for his unique sharp gaze and intense charisma.

When announcer Park Cheol-gyu remarked, "It seems like you look scary even when you aren't making an expression," Park shared an anecdote from his early marriage.

He made the set erupt in laughter by saying, "For six months after we got married, my wife frequently asked me, 'Are you angry at me?' when I was just peacefully watching TV with an expression that looked angry."

However, contrary to the intense image he shows on stage and screen, his daily life with his son is more affectionate than anyone else's.

Park revealed, "Even though he is now a high school freshman, he still gives me a kiss on the lips when I leave for work."

He added, "Because we both feel a bit embarrassed, we say 'Aww' while doing it, but we make sure to do it about once a week. Knowing that it's not common for a 17-year-old son to kiss his father, I always tell him thank you."

He also revealed that he has saved his son's number in his phone as 'My Friend Park Sang-woo.'

Park said, "I always try to meet him at his eye level so we can get along like friends, but even if I don't, my son comes to my eye level first. It seems like he passed through puberty without much trouble."

He continued the warm atmosphere with his characteristic playful joke, saying, "My son probably has my number saved as 'Park Seong-ung.'"

Unlike the charismatic Lee Jung-gu, Park has become a friend-like father at home. The special daily life with his 17-year-old son, revealed for the first time through the broadcast, left a warm impression on viewers.
