Pony breaks down over marital crisis following husband's surgery

Influencer Pony, the sister-in-law of comedian Jo Hye-ryun and wife of actor Jo Min-jun, has candidly revealed the marital conflicts and complex emotions she experienced following her husband's spinal surgery. She drew sympathy by confessing that amidst extreme stress, she even thought, "Would everything be resolved if only I disappeared?"

On the 23rd, Pony shared several photos of Jo Min-jun's rehabilitation process along with a long post on her SNS.

She began her post by calmly sharing the difficult time her family has recently endured, writing, "Is the dawn darkest before it breaks? Just when, and until when..."

Pony revealed that she tried to dissuade her husband several times before his surgery, but her pleas were not accepted.

Recalling the moment, she said, "I tried to stop him three times, saying, 'Don't do the back surgery,' but my husband decided nonchalantly, saying it was 'a simple surgery that won't even take 30 minutes.' When I asked him to think about it one last time, he left for the operating room saying, 'You have never once empathized with my decisions.'"

However, the surgery left unexpected aftereffects.

Pony confessed her honest feelings, saying, "From the day after the surgery, it wasn't my back but my neck that started to hurt, and that pain lasted for more than a month. Inside, I even thought, 'I knew this would happen.'"

Now in her 11th year of marriage, she confessed that marital conflicts reached their peak during this process.

"The conflict with my husband reached its peak, and even my third-grade daughter felt like she was acting in direct opposition to everything I said," Pony revealed. "It was so hard even just breathing and living with the two Jos. I just wanted to disappear. I even thought, 'Am I the problem? Would everything be resolved if only I disappeared?'"

She stated that she had suspended her SNS activities for a while due to the extreme psychological burden.

"I took a break from Instagram for ten days for the first time," she said. "In the past, even that short gap would have made me anxious, but this time I wanted to slowly reflect on myself. I needed time to soothe myself and wonder if I, too, was making things difficult for my family."

However, watching her husband's pain up close brought a change to her heart.

Pony confessed, "One dawn, seeing my husband groaning all night due to pain and his clothes soaked in cold sweat, my resentment was only momentary. In that moment, the thought 'Yes, we must overcome this together' came to me first."

She then expressed her feelings of guilt toward her daughter.

She wrote, "I also wondered if she felt her heart was being pushed to the back because of her always busy mother, and if her self-esteem was being hurt."

Pony also honestly revealed the realistic struggles of balancing work and home.

"I want to do well at work, do well with housework, and take good care of my family, but balancing them is truly difficult. In the end, a gap always opens up somewhere," she said.

Nevertheless, she conveyed her determination to stand up again with her family, saying, "I have concluded that we should not live lives of merely enduring separately, but live together as one again."

Concluding her post, she said, "I think family members are people who you find exhausting at times, but also people you cannot live without. I will live through today like that, and try to live well together tomorrow," drawing empathy from many.

Pony married Jo Min-jun in 2015 and has one daughter. Recently, she has been receiving much support by honestly sharing her family's daily life, parenting, and realistic marital stories through SNS and YouTube.
