Yang Sang-guk Wore Masks Even Before COVID-19: Not Celebrity Disease, But Panic Disorder

Comedian Yang Sang-guk, who recently faced criticism regarding his attitude on a program, has revealed his past struggles with panic disorder.

On the 30th, during an appearance on MBC's 'The Manager,' Yang Sang-guk met with friends from his hometown and cautiously mentioned the recent controversy surrounding his attitude, saying, "Lately, mentally, I've been a bit..."

His friends offered comfort, saying, "Isn't that why you came here? We saw all the comments. We were worried that since you went up [in popularity/fame] quickly, you might come down quickly."

They continued with concern, saying, "I'm more worried that you might be struggling yourself rather than being criticized. You aren't naturally that kind of personality, and I thought you might get hurt if you kept acting that way." Yang Sang-guk accepted the criticism, responding, "I should gradually change myself."

One friend shared Yang Sang-guk's difficulties, saying, "Even before COVID-19, you wore a mask all the time, so I thought you had 'celebrity disease.' Later, I realized it was like you had panic disorder, feeling as if everyone passing by was insulting you."

Yang Sang-guk expressed his lonely struggle, saying, "Since I came to Seoul alone, I couldn't even speak properly unless it was something really serious."

Yang Sang-guk recently caused controversy on the YouTube channel 'Pinggyego' when, while discussing views on dating with comedy senior Yoo Jae Suk, he addressed Yoo Jae Suk as 'Yoo Jae Suk-ssi' instead of 'Sunbae-nim' and made remarks such as "If you say it one more time, I'll scold you" when the conversation diverged from his own thoughts.
