Actor Yoo Seung-ho, comedian Lee Eun-ji, and singer-turned-actor BIBI will embark on a large-scale project exploring the possibility of human survival alongside scientists.

EBS announced that it will premiere its anniversary special program, 'The Last Humanity,' on June 4 at 10:50 PM. This work is the world's first 'science survival reality' program, combining science documentary and reality survival formats, experimentally depicting whether humans can survive within a closed ecosystem.
The setting of the program is a fictional near-future where the Earth's system has collapsed due to a climate crisis. The seven participants selected for 'The Last Humanity' will carry out survival missions within a sealed experimental base disconnected from the outside, maintaining systems for oxygen, water, food, and energy circulation.
The cast lineup is also eye-catching. Along with actor Yoo Seung-ho, Lee Eun-ji, and BIBI, experts from various fields will join, including brain scientist Jang Dong-sun, otolaryngologist and web novel writer Lee Nak-jun, Jang Hong-je from the Department of Chemistry at Kwangwoon University, and Dr. Kim Han-gyeol, a geoscientist at NASA.
After crossing the Arizona desert in the United States, they will enter 'Biosphere 2,' an actual survival experimental facility, and challenge various missions to verify the possibility of survival outside of Earth. Scientists will tackle crises based on their professional knowledge, while entertainers will find breakthroughs in unexpected ways, creating a unique sense of tension and fun.
In the released poster, the personalities of the seven cast members are clearly revealed. Yoo Seung-ho holds the center, reminiscent of a last survivor in a desolate environment, while BIBI shows her presence with intense orange jumper styling. Lee Eun-ji expresses vibrant energy with explorer-style clothing, and Jang Dong-sun, Professor Jang Hong-je, Dr. Kim Han-gyeol, and Lee Nak-jun also raise expectations for the program with visuals that highlight their respective characters.
'The Last Humanity' is drawing attention as a project with an exceptional production scale among EBS anniversary specials, featuring all-location filming in the United States and large-scale art and visual effects work to implement a near-future dystopian worldview.
In particular, the filming location 'Biosphere 2' is a large-scale sealed ecosystem experimental facility built in 1991, a space that artificially implements tropical rainforests, deserts, oceans, and farmlands. It is also famous for an experiment where eight participants lived for two years without outside help; although once evaluated as a failed utopia, it is being re-examined as a meaningful experimental space in the era of the climate crisis.
Meanwhile, 'The Last Humanity' consists of an eight-episode series, special documentaries, and commentary content, and was produced with support from the Ministry of Science and ICT and the Korea Foundation for the Advancement of Science, Technology and ICT.
