Cha In Pyo emotional over loss of brother to oral cancer

Actor Cha In Pyo shared a touching story of family love, confessing that the most difficult moment of his life was saying goodbye to his younger brother, who passed away after a battle with oral cancer.

In the interview series 'Your Life' to be released on the YouTube channel 'Shin-ae Life' on the 7th, Cha appears to candidly share his life as an actor, writer, husband, and father, revealing family stories he has long kept close to his heart.

During the interview, Cha introduced himself as "a person who is not afraid of fixed frameworks."

He reflected calmly on a life defined by constant change: choosing the path of an actor after leaving a stable job, expanding his horizons as a novelist, and most recently, challenging himself on the theater stage for the first time in 33 years since his debut.

However, behind his successful career lay deep wounds he had carried for a long time.

Cha cited the loss of his brother to oral cancer in 2013 as the most difficult period of his life.

At the time, he devoted himself entirely to his family, even stepping down from his role on the SBS talk show 'Thank You' to stay by his brother's side.

"I didn't even have the luxury to properly feel the sadness of losing my brother," Cha said calmly.

He recalled, "I had to take care of my parents, my niece, and my sister-in-law first. At that time, the need to protect my family outweighed my own time to grieve."

He also expressed profound gratitude to his wife, Shin Ae Ra, who was by his brother's side during his final moments.

"The scene of her holding my brother's hand and praying with him is one of the moments I remember most gratefully," he said. "She was a great comfort in the face of such an unbearable parting."

The conversation naturally turned to his adopted daughter, Park Ye-eun.

Cha was moved to tears as he recalled the moment he first met her.

"It wasn't just that one small life became part of our family; the very way I look at the world changed," he said.

He then expressed sincere gratitude to Shin Ae Ra, who had originally suggested the adoption. "I realized a wife could gift her husband a daughter he never even imagined. Thanks to you, I was able to make a truly good choice and feel that I have lived a valuable life," he said.
