In 'Brave New World,' Im Ji-yeon's Shin Seo-ri Realizes Her Identity After Telling Heo Nam-jun's Cha Se-gye They Must Part

In SBS's Friday-Saturday drama 'Brave New World,' which aired on the 13th, Shin Seo-ri, played by Im Ji-yeon, came to understand the truth about her own identity.

Shin Seo-ri told Cha Se-gye, played by Heo Nam-jun, that she would be returning to the place where she had come from. Preparing him for an approaching separation, she said, "So starting today, let's do everything, one by one, so we have no regrets." Cha Se-gye, shaken by the sudden declaration, asked back, "Are you messing with me? You're leaving? You're saying you're just going to leave? Say something that makes sense. If you go, when are you going?"

Seo-ri answered that she would leave in about fifteen days. She admitted that she knew it would be painful for him, adding that because she understood that pain, she was telling him the truth for his sake instead of hiding it. Se-gye pushed back against that explanation and said, "You asked me to go on a date today for my sake? So you could say something that doesn't even make sense?"

Unable to accept the farewell, Cha Se-gye lashed out at Seo-ri. He asked why she had shaken up someone who had been quietly enduring life if she was going to leave like this. He said she had turned a person who had been gritting his teeth to survive into a fool who could see only her. Refusing to let the matter end there, he told her, "No, you can't go. I won't let you go. Know that," and then walked away. Seo-ri broke down and cried out that she did not want to leave either, and that she wanted to stay by his side.

Meanwhile, Cha Se-gye went to Choi Mun-do after learning that Choi intended to get rid of the shop belonging to Shin Seo-ri's grandmother. Se-gye pleaded with him, saying, "Please, just don't do that. I haven't done even one thing properly for that woman. So just leave that alone."

Choi Mun-do responded coldly, asking, "Is that an order, or a request? Choose one." Cha Se-gye lowered himself and answered that if Choi told him to be trampled, he would be trampled, and if Choi told him to bow his head, he would bow. He said that to them it might be an insignificant and shabby restaurant, but to someone else it was home and a whole life. With that, Choi taunted him by asking what could be done now.

After meeting her grandmother, Shin Seo-ri became confused as memories flashed through her mind like scenes from her life passing before her eyes. In that moment, all of the memories returned to their proper places. She realized that she was not Kang Dan-sim inside Shin Seo-ri's body, but Shin Seo-ri herself.
