Lim Ji-yeon Says She Gave Up Backlighting to Help Heo Nam-jun Shine in 'Meotjin Sinsegye'

Actress Lim Ji-yeon is set to speak candidly about a painful chapter from her student days at Korea National University of Arts, when she was reportedly known by the nickname "Korea National University of Arts fashion terrorist."
On June 17, the production team of tvN's "You Quiz on the Block" released a preview with the line, "Explosive chemistry between Lim Ji-yeon and Heo Nam-jun, but was she a human sweet potato to classmate Park Jung-min?! Revealing the secret behind the buzz around 'Meotjin Sinsegye.'"
When told, "I heard your nickname during your Korea National University of Arts days was 'Korea National University of Arts fashion terrorist,'" Lim Ji-yeon admitted plainly, "I was bad at dressing."
She went on to explain that she had no sense for clothes at the time, confessing, "I dressed in perfect burgundy from head to toe." She also shared an episode involving her classmate, actor Park Jung-min. As soon as Yoo Jae-suk mentioned Park Jung-min, Lim Ji-yeon immediately revealed, "But Jung-min oppa was really bad at dressing, too."
Lim Ji-yeon said she was taken aback because someone who, even in her eyes, was no easy case was criticizing her fashion. Recalling one particular outfit, she said, "I went in wearing burgundy from top to bottom, and he said, 'Are you a sweet potato? The sweet potato is here.'"
Lim Ji-yeon also opened up about behind-the-scenes moments with actor Heo Nam-jun, her co-star in the globally No. 1 buzzworthy drama "Meotjin Sinsegye."
Explaining that she put all her effort into making Heo Nam-jun look impressive on screen, Lim Ji-yeon said she believed a romantic comedy depends on whether the male lead's actions feel charming, whether his face looks genuinely handsome, or whether he appears sexy. "If Segye lives, Seori lives," she said. "So what I told Heo Nam-jun every day was, 'I gave up my backlight. Do you know you're getting all the lighting? You absolutely have to come out looking handsome.'"
